Split pea soup with a ham bone and assorted vegetables/spices isn't too big a step up from just cooking split peas.
An "instapot" is just a pressure cooker with modern marketing. Poeple who want to cook fast can probably find one second-hand now that the hype has faded if they don't mind an extra countertop appliance.
How would you compare cooking lentils and peas? I've had good luck cooking lentils and rice in 40 minutes or so, even without a pressure cooker.
