A day trip to Tam Hai - quiet coastal escape in Central Vietnam

Tam Hai is not the kind of place to go for crowds, resorts, or busy tourist areas. Instead, it offers something much simpler, like just quiet beaches and a slower way of life.

Look at the vibe, I just slow down, enjoy the sea, eat some good food with the air from the sea.
And honestly, that’s what I liked about it.

I was quite surprised when I arrived in Tam Hai because to get there I had to take a ferry, which only took about 5 minutes and could carry several cars weighing several tons.

This dish like woww quite impressed me. It was kind of a salad. And guess what was inside!! "snail" yesss That was a snail salad. We call it "Gỏi ốc" I would like to have it again for sure.

We climbed over the rocks and found this beautiful spot overlooking the sea. There were fishing boats out in the water, palm trees along the shore, and hardly any tourists around.

It felt like one of those simple travel moments that you don’t really plan for, but end up remembering the most. We just sat there, took photos, enjoyed the sunset, and watched the sky slowly change colours.

After watching the sunset, our local friend invited us over to his home for dinner.

His mom cooked for us, and we got to enjoy a proper homemade meal together. 🥰

Everything was simple but so delicious with rice, soup, vegetables, sweet potatoes, and some freshly cooked fish. What made it special wasn’t just the food, but being welcomed into someone’s home and getting to experience a little bit of local life.

We came to Tam Hai as visitors, but moments like this made us feel more like guests.
