Yeah, I never actually see any roots running underground. That's why I don't deal with it. I assume they must be really deep, and I would have to dig up the entire garden to get to them!
I remember the blackberries of the northwest! We would go to thickets to pick them and I remember being completely freaked out by the spiders that loved to nest in them. My parents made do on a very small income with five kids, and so we went everything-picking... blackberries, strawberries, apples, etc. All of it was processed into jam or canned preserves or put in the freezer. But yeah, those blackberry vines can take over everything if they aren't hacked back!
We have one of the largest "free" blackberry patches on our road, lol! It's the entire side of the road! We also have quite a bit in the yard as well, lol! Take care!
