[ENG/ESP] The charm of working surrounded by nature on the island
I invite you once again to visit my blog to share with you another day of work and scenery in the municipality of Gómez, a corner of the island that always welcomes me with its perfect blend of nature and tradition. Despite the heat we’ve been experiencing these days, we keep moving forward to carry out our duties and keep everything in order, always wishing you a great, wonderful, and very productive day.
Every time I have to travel to the municipality of Gómez, I feel like I’m having a special experience. It’s not just work; it’s a journey where nature becomes my companion along the way. Seeing the trees, the mountains, and the colors of the landscape as we make our way is something that deeply relaxes me. It’s as if the island, with its unique charm, were giving us a breather between each workday.
Los invito otro día más a visitar mi blog para compartirles una nueva jornada de trabajo y paisajes en el municipio Gómez, un rincón de la Isla que siempre me recibe con su mezcla perfecta de naturaleza y tradición. A pesar del calor que nos acompaña en estos días, seguimos adelante para cumplir con nuestras labores y mantener todo en orden, siempre deseándoles un día genial, excelente y muy productivo.
Cada vez que me toca trasladarme al municipio Gómez siento que vivo una experiencia especial. No es solo trabajo; es un recorrido donde la naturaleza se convierte en compañera de camino. Ver los árboles, las montañas y los colores del paisaje mientras avanzamos es algo que me relaja profundamente. Es como si la Isla, con su encanto único, nos regalara un respiro entre cada jornada.
When we arrived at the hotel, before heading up to the main tank, we had to take a mandatory break. The heat was unusually intense; the temperature was 32 degrees and still rising. We could feel the sun beating down on us, so we decided to hydrate thoroughly and reapply sunscreen before getting started. On days like these, your body thanks you for it, and the work becomes more bearable.
Al llegar al hotel, antes de subir al tanque principal, tuvimos que hacer una pausa obligatoria. El calor estaba fuera de lo normal; la temperatura marcaba 32 grados y seguía subiendo. Sentíamos cómo el sol caía con fuerza sobre nosotros, así que decidimos hidratarnos bien; aplicarnos nuevamente protector solar antes de comenzar. En días así, el cuerpo lo agradece y el trabajo se hace más llevadero.
After cooling off, we went up to the tank to perform the necessary chlorination and disinfection. The routine is the same, but every day has its own rhythm. We check the parameters, make any necessary adjustments, and make sure everything is in perfect condition.
Después de refrescarnos, subimos al tanque para realizar la cloración y la desinfección correspondiente. La rutina es la misma, pero cada día tiene su propio ritmo. Verificamos los parámetros, ajustamos lo necesario y nos aseguramos de que todo quedara en perfecto estado.
When we were done, I took the opportunity to snap a few photos. I like to capture those moments when nature shows its majesty, even on the most sweltering days. There’s something beautiful about seeing how the vegetation endures, how the sky shines, and how the island remains a sight to behold, no matter the weather.
Cuando terminamos, aproveché para tomar algunas fotografías. Me gusta capturar esos momentos en los que la naturaleza se muestra imponente, incluso en los días más sofocantes. Hay algo hermoso en ver cómo la vegetación resiste, cómo el cielo brilla y cómo la Isla sigue siendo un espectáculo, sin importar el clima.
When we left the hotel, we decided to take the Portachuelo route back. That path always offers more shade thanks to the trees, and on extremely hot days, it’s a blessing to feel even a little less of the direct sun. But before continuing our trip, we stopped at the “Donde Chenter” tourist rest stop. There, we rehydrated and cooled off for a while. That little break feels like a gift when the weather is so intense.
Al salir del hotel, decidimos tomar la vía de Portachuelo para regresar. Ese camino siempre nos ofrece más sombra gracias a los árboles, y en días de calor intenso es una bendición sentir aunque sea un poco menos el sol directo. Pero antes de continuar el viaje, hicimos una parada en el parador turístico Donde Chenter. Allí nos hidratamos nuevamente y nos refrescamos un rato. Ese pequeño descanso se siente como un regalo cuando el clima está tan fuerte.
After rehydrating, we set off again for home, saying goodbye once more to the municipality of Gómez. Every visit leaves a different impression—sometimes one of tranquility, other times of exhaustion, but always one of satisfaction at a job well done. And it also leaves memories, landscapes, and moments that I like to share with you, because they’re part of our daily life on this beautiful island.
Después de estar bien hidratados, retomamos el camino a casa, despidiéndonos una vez más del municipio Gómez. Cada visita deja una sensación distinta; a veces de tranquilidad, otras de cansancio, pero siempre de satisfacción por el deber cumplido. Y también deja recuerdos, paisajes y momentos que me gusta compartir con ustedes, porque forman parte de nuestro día a día en esta hermosa Isla.
