Good morning and happy Saturday, friends! How are you? Today I'm taking you on a short road trip to Uzzano. The weather was nice, so we took the opportunity to wander around a bit. Uzzano is part of the Nievole Valley, like many of the places I've told you about recently. It's located just above Borgo a Buggiano, which I've already visited and will be returning to soon because some of my relatives are getting married there. Uzzano is divided into a new area and an old one. Today I'll take you to the new one, but I hope to visit the old one soon. Uzzano is a very large municipality, divided into several hamlets such as Santa Lucia and Santa Maria, many of which are dedicated to saints. Part of Uzzano was once marshy, like many other villages in the Nievole Valley that bordered the Padule, but the entire area was obviously later reclaimed. Uzzano is located on mostly flat land, and the new part faces almost entirely the main road, branching off into many small roads, lanes, and paths across the plain. It is surrounded by some fields because this too was once an extremely rural area.

Uzzano is crossed by the Pescia River and other streams, which facilitated rural settlements. This place has ancient Lombard origins; it was once part of Florence and then passed under Pistoia. The part we visited is very quiet, with wide tree-lined avenues—I love the area's tree-lined streets, they're very charming—pretty villas, colorful houses, some truly charming, and wide, quiet, spacious streets. Of course, there are also various green spaces, fields, factories (it's still a very active area), more modern houses with unique shapes, and, of course, clusters of pastel-colored houses. I liked the area we visited; it gave me the impression of a truly serene and peaceful place. However, reading here and there, I saw that Uzzano is full of things to see, churches scattered throughout the hamlets, and of course, the medieval old town. I absolutely must visit. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this taste of Uzzano. See you soon, blog friends, and have a great Sunday!
