I knew almost nothing about this Polish city before we went there. I did hear about some dwarfs on the streets (I heard it from a friend who recommended this city), and a cathedral. Not much more info I had about Wrocław.
But what a nice surprise we were in for, indeed. We came here to make a little detour between visiting Prague (which was also fantastic) and going to Kraków. We bought our train tickets while we were still home, as well as booked the accommodation, but I didn’t have time to explore more about the tourist attractions of this city.
It turned out that it wasn't needed at all because our accommodation was not far from the city centre, so everything was so close; we could discover the charming corners of the city by ourselves. That afternoon when we arrived, got to know the surroundings a bit and rested, we went for a walk. All I told my husband was that we were going to hunt some dwarfs - what we would see along the way was still a mystery.

The first surprise we stumbled upon was this building, which I later found out was the Old Town Hall. Turning to the right from here was like stepping into a fairy tale. The tale could go something like... once upon a time, there were two children wandering in the streets of Wrocław. It was a foreign country for them, but still, they didn't feel lost. Neither hungry, however, those tall and colourful buildings seemed to them like carefully elaborated ginger, strawberry, orange, cinnamon, apple and lemon-flavoured biscuits, adorned with chocolate windows.

Nah... let's leave that story behind haha. The truth is that all these buildings in the Old Town of Wrocław amazed us. We really didn't know we would see such beautiful architecture, a mix of different influences from the past. They were very well preserved! I suppose that constant renovations and maintenance are needed to preserve such old and wonderful buildings. Still, I am not sure if all those shops and cafés match the vibe of these buildings. 😅

Our visit to Wrocław happened in November. That evening, when we walked through those streets, we noticed that some serious work around arranging and decorating the buildings, squares and streets for Christmas was about to start. We still didn't see the final result, just the preparation part.

These two buildings, known as Jaś i Małgosia, are connected by an arcade. I found out that they date back to the 15th century, and that under the arcade was the entrance to a cemetery.

St. Elizabeth's Church is just too big to take a photo of it haha, (just excuses of course, I took a photo of it but it is not a good one) so here is a little detail. Although the church is from the 14th century, I think I see some modern stained glass here.

Isn't the little square with flower stalls indeed like a scene from a fairy tale?

While already going back to our accommodation, we passed by the Wrocław Opera. And that's the end of today's post...

Nooooooo, that was just a joke. I still haven't shown you the dwarfs!! You remember, we went to search for them, the real daytime walk happened the next day. 😂 So, let's start with these little guys, scattered all around the city. To imagine their size, here is one standing in front of the Korona Hotel:

In front of a souvenir and toy shop, a dwarf is waving to us.

In front of a bookshop, a little girl is reading a book:

Viking girl?

In front of a pastry shop, he was eating chocolate:

Cheers 🥂

Juliusz IX:

Power events:

Firefighters

Deaf, blind and in a wheelchair:

A soldier:

Playing with a plane and a bus:

My favourite - with heart-shaped lollipops:

Again drinking? Ogorzałek i Opiłek

This one was sitting close to the church:

Breaking a strongbox?

Heidelberg:

Another one reading a book:

Is he a trader?

In front of the puppet theatre (can you spot the kindness rock?):

A dwarf lady who was photographing another, mini dwarf, Troszka i Adoratorek:

Just a fountain - not a dwarf!

I hope you didn't get too tired from many dwarfs... I enjoyed searching for them that evening, even though the next day I found more and more of them! Anyway, we finished our evening stroll with a cup of hot chocolate, looking for the next day's extended exploration of Wrocław.

Thank you 😊
So many little guys!! I admit that some of them I didn't see myself yet :D
Haha, it seems I was in hunting mode 😂
And there are many more we found the next day :D
It’s impressive how well-preserved the architecture is, especially considering the city’s history.
It is admirable when a city knows how to preserve its architecture!
Loving the architectural design of the buildings in that Old Town. 🥰 It feels like walking in a fairytale town with so much stories to tell 🥰 Thank you for sharing 🥰
I am glad you liked it 😊 . It probably has many stories indeed, such an old place!
Your favourite dwarf is my favourite, because of the hearts and the one who reads the book !!!! Is that... ice cream? It looks like ice cream! God I don't know if it's chocolate or ice cream but it looks delicious!!!
I need a moment to get out of the fairy tale... that place exists???? The windmill! The buildings! The town hall! I think it was just a dream because of the beauty I saw, thank you!💗
They are so cute and small, the very next day I found many more hahaha, a big collection of dwarfs it can be 😁 although it is just a small fraction of all of them scattered around!!!
A fairly tale, such a nice surprise it was for us 😇
Finding places like this makes you feel so happy that you can't fit in your heart. !!!!🤗
This is such a wonderful. magical place. Interesting.
I am glad you liked it 😊
What a magical evening full of surprises in the Old Town of Wrocław! Beautiful old buildings and so many dwarfs; I like the scene with the lady and sunglasses pushed onto her forehead while she's photographing the mini dwarf:) The detail on some of them is really good!
The photographer lady dwarf - That one is indeed great, and especially the little tiny dwarf she was taking the photo of. Cute couple hehe

It's always fun when cities have hidden gems like that. I know in Lexington Kentucky they used to have horse statues throughout the city that they would decorate during certain times of year. Great shots, what a magical place!
I have searched about the horse statues you mentioned, they are so beautiful! 🐎😍
The dwarfs are tiny, or course haha, but they are scattered all around the city, I guess no one knows anymore how many of them (some sources say around 800, others claim around 1,000 dwarfs in Wroclaw)
Wow, that is a lot of dwarves! It's almost like a Pokemon game!
Nice hunt for dwarfs.😆Truly amazed they're scattered everywhere. You surely had fun finding a lot of them.
I did 😁
They were popping up from everywhere hahah

You're welcome ❤️
Good evening @mipiano. I'm in love with that city... 😀 such beautiful architecture. I'm definitely going to try that dwarf hunt game... I hope to go to Breslavia someday to play. By the way, my favorite figure is located right above your favorite one.
I saw the Stone of Kindness... and the hot chocolate too 😍. Thank you so much for this wonderful tour.
Have a lovely night. 🤗
Good evening @enraizar. It was a very very nice surprise for us, we didn't imagine this city has so beautiful architecture! I would go back one day, if the opportunity comes for it. And fingers crossed you will also do this kind of a hunt there! 😉
I hope you are doing well and had a great day 😀
Good evening @mipiano, I've really enjoyed your hunt so far, I'm amazed. As for my day, the tax issue with the 4T has taken up most of it... 😐 tomorrow will surely be a much better day. 🙂
I hope it's a great day for you too. 😀

Agree and How Interesting and Funny. This refers to the fairytale looks of the city and all the Dwarfs.
Those Dwarfs doing all sort of things, super nice. And drinking, some out in the open and others hiding from your camera 😆
Any idea why all those dwarfs?
Maybe they have to drink so much because it is cold and they spend the whole day and night on the street, so to warm up? Could be the reason haha
Yes, there is a story behind them. I found many more dwarfs the next day so I will try to write a few words about their origin next time I show that part of the dwarfs collection 😁
So fun, the dwarf hunt in Wroclaw sounds like a cute adventure and your photos make the city feel full of little surprises.
We absolutely loved the visit to this city, would repeat it again, maybe it has even more surprises 😇
It's true, spontaneity transforms every trip into a unique adventure. The magic of discovering the unexpected reminds us that life is full of surprises and that, often, the most valuable things are found outside of our plans. Every corner explored becomes a lesson in gratitude and wonder, connecting us with stories that transcend time. Opening ourselves up to these experiences allows us to see the world with new eyes and grateful hearts.
The beauty of the unexpected teaches us that, even without a clear plan, we can find wonders that nourish the soul.
Super smiley story.
A fairytale post, really <3
