Corrientes: La avenida que nunca duerme / Corrientes: The Avenue That Never Sleeps [Esp-Eng]
Saludos cordiales a toda la comunidad, en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes una de las principales avenidas turísticas que posee la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, la Avenida Corrientes. Es el lugar predilecto que tenemos cuando queremos un poco de distracción lleno de variedad, personas tanto locales como extranjeros, restaurantes, heladerías y lo que no puede faltar teatros. Aquí les mostraré una recopilación de diversos momentos vividos en esta importante avenida de la ciudad.
Warm greetings to the entire community. Today, I’d like to share with you one of the main tourist avenues in the City of Buenos Aires: Corrientes Avenue. It’s our go-to spot when we’re looking for a bit of fun and variety—full of both locals and visitors, restaurants, ice cream shops, and, of course, theaters. Here, I’ll show you a collection of moments captured on this important city avenue.
Esta gran Avenida está conformada aproximadamente por 70 cuadras y al final de la tarde, una parte de ella se cierra y se convierte en zona peatonal. Atraviesa la Avenida 9 de julio, una de las más anchas de Latinoamérica y donde se encuentra el imponente obelisco de la ciudad. A cualquier hora que la visites siempre habrá gente a su alrededor, comiendo, bailando, comprando o simplemente caminando y viendo los diferentes espectáculos de artistas callejeros.
This wide avenue stretches for about 70 blocks, and in the late afternoon, part of it closes to traffic and becomes a pedestrian zone. It runs along 9 de Julio Avenue, one of the widest in Latin America and home to the city’s imposing obelisk. No matter what time you visit, there will always be people around, eating, dancing, shopping, or simply walking and watching the various performances by street artists.

Teatros / Theaters
Argentina se caracteriza por promover la participación en actos culturales y existen muchas instituciones dedicadas a la formación en el arte actoral, es por ello que podemos encontrar alternativas para todas las edades. Las infraestructuras teatrales que actualmente existen, están a la altura de los mejores del mundo. En la Avenida Corriente podemos encontrar más de 20 teatros y con funciones todos los días.
Argentina is known for encouraging participation in cultural events, and there are many institutions dedicated to training in the art of acting, which is why there are options for all ages. The theater facilities currently in place are on par with the best in the world. On Corriente Avenue, there are more than 20 theaters, all of which have performances every day.
Tuve la oportunidad de ir a una de las mejores obras de teatro que he visto en mi vida, se trata de una representación de la película “Rocky”, la actuación y una escenografía de impacto, hasta un cuadrilátero apareció y la impecable actuación de cada actor fue sinceramente de un lujo total. La recomiendo, ya lleva más de 1 año y las funciones totalmente llenas.
I had the chance to see one of the best plays I’ve ever seen in my life—it’s a stage adaptation of the movie “Rocky.” The acting and set design were stunning; they even brought out a boxing ring, and the flawless performances by every actor were truly a treat. I highly recommend it—it’s been running for over a year now, and the shows are always sold out.
Otra gran obra y una de las ultimas que fui a ver es “Desde el Jardín”, con uno de los mejores actores que tiene Argentina llamado Guillermo Francella, una función encantadora que me sacó tanto lagrimas como risas. En definitiva, el teatro es una de las mejores opciones que tiene esta avenida por la calidad y profesionalismo en esta rama artística.
Another great production—and one of the last ones I saw—is *Desde el Jardín*, starring one of Argentina’s finest actors, Guillermo Francella. It was a delightful show that brought me to both tears and laughter. All in all, theater is one of the best options this avenue has to offer, thanks to the quality and professionalism of this art form.
Restaurantes / Restaurants
La comida no puede faltar y es un factor importante cada vez que salimos. Aquí hay de toda variedad y multicultural, obviamente el asado argentino, comida italiana, francesa, árabe, venezolana, brasilera, cafeterías, etc. En esta oportunidad nos fuimos por una pizza, pero una a lo grande y muy reconocida del país, donde se hace cola para entrar, como llegamos temprano entramos directo. La comida y atención espectacular, un buen rato para degustar y deleitarnos con nuevos sabores.
Food is a must and always a key part of our outings. There’s a wide variety of multicultural cuisine here—obviously Argentine barbecue, as well as Italian, French, Arabic, Venezuelan, Brazilian, coffee shops, and more. This time we went for pizza, but a big-name, well-known spot in the country where people line up to get in; since we arrived early, we walked right in. The food and service were spectacular; it has four spacious dining rooms with plenty of staff—a great time to savor and delight in new flavors.
Heladerías / Ice cream shops
Los helados, uno mejor que otro, en su mayoría las heladerías son artesanales, por lo tanto, cada una tiene una particularidad y sabores únicos. En esta avenida, hay una muy famosa por estar entre las 10 mejores heladerías del mundo y la cola para comprar son interminables a cada momento. De igual manera, hay muchas opciones con delicias y opciones para todos los gustos. En épocas de calor son indispensables. Igual a nosotros siempre se nos antoja y no vemos clima para saborear uno de ellos.
The ice creams, each one better than the last, are mostly made in artisanal ice cream shops, so each one has its own special touch and unique flavors. On this avenue, there’s one that’s very famous for being among the top 10 ice cream shops in the world, and the lines to buy ice cream are endless at all times. Likewise, there are many options with treats and choices for every taste. They’re a must-have during hot weather. Just like us, we’re always craving them and can’t wait to enjoy one.
Artistas callejeros / Street performers
Los artistas se hacen presente, desde bailarines, acróbatas, imitadores de cantantes, músicos originales, entre otros. Este fin de semana la ciudad celebró los 90 años de la construcción del Obelisco, organizando un evento enfocado en todos los cambios que han ocurrido desde ese momento hasta ahora. Mi familia y yo nos fuimos a disfrutar y ver la propuesta artística que el gobierno de la ciudad organizó para toda la ciudadanía.
Artists of all kinds are on hand, including dancers, acrobats, impersonators, and original musicians, among others. This weekend, the city celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Obelisk’s construction by organizing an event highlighting all the changes that have taken place since then. My family and I went to enjoy and see the artistic program that the city government organized for all residents.
La fiesta abarcó varias cuadras de la avenida antes de llegar al Obelisco, en una primera cuadra nos encontramos con una mini tarima mostrando un personaje de los años 1930, reflejando como se vestían y la música de la época. Avanzamos otra cuadra más y llegamos a la tarima de los años 1940-1950, donde había una mujer cantando música suave y melancólica.
The parade stretched for several blocks along the avenue before reaching the Obelisk. On the first block, we came across a small stage featuring a character from the 1930s, showcasing the fashion and music of the era. We walked another block and arrived at the stage dedicated to the 1940s and 1950s, where a woman was singing soft, melancholic music.
Siguiente cuadra, tarima con los años 1960, cuyos artistas vestían de manera colorida, muy al estilo de la época. Continuamos caminando y nos topamos con los años 1970, donde la música disco hizo su efecto y nos puso a bailar a todos.
The next block features a stage set in the 1960s, with performers dressed in colorful outfits, very much in the style of the era. We kept walking and came across the 1970s, where disco music took hold and had us all dancing.
Los años 1980-1990 se hicieron presente con canciones de artistas latinos como Los Aterciopelados, una agrupación exitosa en la que aún perduran sus temas. Seguimos caminando y ya nos encontramos con los años 2000, una época más familiar para nosotros los jóvenes 😉, la electrónica retumbaba las calles y nos puso a saltar a todos los presentes.
The 1980s and 1990s came to life with songs by Latin artists like Los Aterciopelados, a successful group whose hits are still popular today. We kept walking and soon found ourselves in the 2000s, a time that feels more familiar to us young people 😉; electronic music was thumping through the streets and had everyone there jumping.
Continuamos caminando y llegamos a la tarima principal donde nos deleitamos con una presentación de una orquesta sinfónica con música local. Adicional a ello, mientras sonaba la música los reflectores se dirigían hacia el cumpleañero de la noche, el gran Obelisco, mostrando imágenes de grandes personalidades de la actuación y música. Una belleza en todo su esplendor.
We continued walking and arrived at the main stage, where we enjoyed a performance by a symphony orchestra playing local music. In addition, as the music played, spotlights shone on the star of the evening—the great Obelisk—displaying images of legendary figures from the worlds of acting and music. It was a sight to behold in all its splendor.
En resumen, la Avenida Corrientes está llena de magia, y por más que ya la hemos visitado varias veces, siempre hay una buena opción para el entretenimiento, nos encanta y sé que volveremos a ir.
In short, Corrientes Avenue is full of magic, and even though we’ve been there several times, there’s always something fun to do. We love it, and I know we’ll be back.
