I Thought Broccoli Couldn’t Survive the Weather!

Our kind neighbor gave us five broccoli seedlings. At first, I was hesitant to accept them because I thought broccoli could only survive in cool temperatures. I was worried that our hot weather would make it difficult for them to grow.

But my mother is always positive when it comes to planting. She encouraged me to accept the seedlings and simply give them a try. “Let’s see if they can survive and grow in this hot weather,” she said. So, we decided to take on the challenge and plant them in our garden.

After two months, we finally got to see how our five broccoli seedlings were doing. To my surprise, only one of them was growing really well, while the other four remained thin and small.

I started wondering if the size of their pots had something to do with it. The four weaker plants were growing in smaller pots, which may have limited their space to develop. Meanwhile, the healthiest broccoli was planted in a much larger pot, and the difference was quite noticeable.

Despite that, I was amazed that broccoli could actually survive and grow in our hot weather! I honestly didn’t expect it to make it this far. But there’s still one thing I’m not sure about: Will this healthy broccoli plant actually produce a head of broccoli?

Even with how intense the heat has been, I’m still hopeful that a broccoli head will eventually appear in the next few weeks.

I guess that’s just how gardening or farming goes, you’re always taking a chance on something without any guarantee of what the outcome will be. Sometimes you succeed, and sometimes you don’t. But that’s also what makes growing plants exciting.

For now, I’ll just keep taking care of this little broccoli plant and patiently wait to see what happens. Will it finally produce a head? I’m hoping it will!
