A Relieved Evening Dimsum

Hello, friends especially foodies!

Recently on Saturday evening, my boyfriend just got off from the office and we met on Taman Anggrek Mall, a distance away from mommy’s house, where I spent my weekend.. We craved for dimsum, even it was in the evening. Could we find it there?
Fortunately in a distance on 5th floor, we saw a popular dimsum restaurant just opened, it named Fong Sheng.

Even it was so full and we needed to be put on the waiting list but it was okay because we craved for it that day. The restaurant had an opened concept that blended with the mall and I think it made it looked a bit larger like the original size.

You could see from the outside the the restaurant was full of customers, it supposed to be a good dimsum, yes?

While waiting, I saw spoiler from their menu by the brochures they put outside. They sold kind of noodles, steamed rice, songfen, steamed dimsum, fried dimsum and some soup.

I could see from their brochure that it had quite many branches all over my city.

Lucky for us, soon, we could enter the restaurant not a long time after waiting. Then inside, a waiter gave us their menu.
Some packages menu which impressed us, because it could be ordered that time (although it said only sold on Monday to Friday). They were

HOLIDAY A: fried dumpling noodle, shumei, and grass jelly tea
HOLIDAY B: minced pork rice, fried tofu, and iced lemon tea
HOLIDAY C: pork mushroom congfen, fried dough, and iced lychee tea
HOLIDAY D: chicken mushroom noodle soup, fried spring roll, and lychee water
HOLIDAY E: fried pork rice, hongkong steamed egg, and lemon water
HOLIDAY F: congfen tausi pork, fried pork buns, and lemon cola
HOLIDAY G: fried chicken rice, crispy fried enoki, and grassjelly water

Kind of noodles that they had were crabstick noodle, minced pork noodle, mushroom pork noodle, porkball noodle, mushoorm chicken noodle, yong tofu noodle, and also some kind of noodle. Well they had same noodle, but only different toppings. They also had some kind of soup noodles too. For kind of noodle, they had smooth and the wide ones.

Now let me explain about their dimsum menu, for steamed ones they had bbq pork steamed buns, fengchau, mala steamed fengchau, steamed wonton, salted egg buns, pork steamed buns, tausi steamed pork, and steamed hakau. They also had steamed mantau, minced pork steamed, chicken mushroom steamed, shrimp crabstick steamed, mala wantan, pork shewmay, pork tofu, hongkong steamed tofu, beancurd springroll, and pork steamed balls.

For the fried dimsum they had beef floss spring roll, crispy fried tofu, beancurd fried spring roll, fried fengchau, fried pork balls, fried pork dumplings, HK fried bread, crispy fried pork, fried mantau, mayonnaise fried dough stick, crispy fried chicken mushroom, crispy cheese balls, crab stick fried shrimp, fried bbq pork bun, fried pork bun, fried drumstick, and chili salt enoki.

If you like, they also had kind of steamed rice with many choices of toppings and also kind of congfen (flat rice noodles).

At the end of their menu, they also had some of soup and also drinks. They didn’t have lots of choices for drink there.

Inside, it was quite comfy even it was full. They had mostly wooden metal chairs, with some long soft chairs. You could see some of their menus on the wall too. How do you think about it?

The dimsum came one by one, so we ate it cause we were hungry haha.

Mayonnaise Fried Dough Sticks

Crispy outside, inside was shrimp meat as its’ filling. It had umami flavor of savory and sweet. Plus it served with mayonnaise which tasted sweet and sour. Both of us loved us.

Fried Pork Balls

A bit crispy outside, the pork meat inside was so tasty in savory. So lunch, both of the fried dimsum we had were all tasty.

Steamed Shew May

Also made of pork meat, their shew may tasted savory. The shewmay served hot and it made them even tastier.

Steamed Beancurd Springrolls

Steamed bean curd spring rolls made of bean curd with savory and sweet flavor. It was just so so.

BBQ pork steamed buns

A portion of their steamed buns contained 2 pieces of it. Inside was red bbq pork meat filling. Their buns were soft with sweet dominan flavor for the bbq pork meat filling. Hmm so yummy!

Steamed Hakau

My boyfriend’s favorite dimsum is hakau. Hakau is kind of dimsum with clear skin and shrimp inside. The taste of it was sweet from real shrimp.

We ate dimsum with the chili oil which made them even tastier. It had complete flavor of savory, sweet and spicy. It had a bit oily greasy texture but both of us liked it.

Beside dimsum we also ordered this

Cicongfen

But the taste was a bit strange.. lol.

The messy of our table that day…

Overall both of us quite satisfied with the flavor, even what they served weren’t the best we ever had. Promise you to talk about the best one later (I never told you about it before).
