Enjoyable lunch and tea with my daughter, Eden

There are few things more enjoyable than spending quality time with family over a delicious meal, and that's exactly what my daughter, Eden, and I experienced during our recent visit to Buitengeluk in Broadacres.

Nestled in beautiful gardens with a peaceful countryside atmosphere, Buitengeluk offers a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by lush greenery, tranquil surroundings, and a warm, inviting ambience that encouraged us to slow down and simply enjoy the moment.

For lunch, we decided to share one of their home-baked chicken pies, served with a selection of fresh vegetables. The pie was everything comfort food should be—golden, flaky pastry wrapped around a rich, creamy chicken filling that tasted wonderfully homemade. The perfectly cooked vegetables complemented the meal beautifully, making it both hearty and satisfying.

We waited quite a while for our order to come and it was a good thing that we were not in a hurry. They were short staffed - but it was well worth the wait.

Although we were pleasantly full, there was no way we could resist sharing one of Buitengeluk's famous pavlovas for dessert. Crisp on the outside and delightfully soft in the centre, the pavlova was topped with fresh fruit and cream, creating the perfect balance of sweetness and freshness. Every bite was simply delicious.

What made the afternoon truly special wasn't just the wonderful food but the opportunity to relax, chat, and create lasting memories together. The peaceful setting provided the perfect backdrop for meaningful conversation and plenty of laughter.
