Everyone is having large difficulties in supporting or promoting projects on Hive.
I like the layout and professional presentation of these. In my own opinion, I still think any project should try to converge on using DHF for development and/or marketing that has tangible results (aka user retention) and gradually transition from supporting things like hosting and infrastructure, way from DHF. But I am not going to press on this... we all know how hard things are already.
What I want to discuss is what the proposal is doing to try to move in that direction. That's way more important to approach. And the Shopification of a very well-known interface visited by probably millions of people, is a PERFECT solution to support most of the costs of the website, in my view. It could even support curation and community management costs because if introducing a % scheme on purchases, where people can do some work for advertising gear, they can get some commission for those sales, for example, helping with the marketing and community management.
Curation is also easy to solve, just add a little subsidiary to the posts of everyone (by default, it needs to work with other front ends for this to happen easily via all front ends), and people can still remove it, yes, but I am sure a great amount would leave it (me, for example) in order to support the curator's job. It's true that this component here might benefit from an AI approach, where some basic checking can be done on the post in order to filter out unimportant cases and prioritise the important content that has more impact and greater reach.
Web2 partners' approaches are usually a bit costly, but it really depends on the targeted audience and results. Although having a presence on web2 probably provides more return on investment than anything else (and it's basically free). For example, having an option on the website for users can reference that is "OK" for worldmappin to re-post a link of the posts on worldmappin associated web2 accounts, like X, facebook, reddit, instagram, etc. This can be fully automated in all these, for example, and therefore its costs for implementation are a one-time thing. There might be some associated maintenance over time, but very minimal as these things don't change that often, and then it's something that can run forever, improving the outreach of worldmappin and Hive by association. This feature can be combined with the "subsidiary" feature that could on top of it, "for example" return some cashback to users that are OK with this. Both provide users with more reach and potential rewards. On top of that, one can even gamify more, by saying to the users, that if they go on web2 and follow, repost or share the worldmappin web2 posts, then they get a little more bonus on that cashback, all supported by the curation benificiary of the users' posts.
This is an example of how to link Web2 movements to Hive by making use of its technology.
There are probably more ideas I could come up with, but this reply is getting too long. And I am sorry I could not help you guys more over time... You are all a very big team already, spreading the load as much as you can, and believe you are trying to do as much as you can. And I can't be everywhere, even if people see me being everywhere... :D forky has some limitations as a human being LOL
Ping me anytime as usual.
I know where I want Hive, and I know you also know! Cheers, and keep pushing.
@forykw, many of your ideas going exactly into our direction.
Looking forward to have a chat or a discussion on the different things like shop and web2 for Worldmappin.
Happy to join a discussion around the team if you have any regular calls... send me an invite and I will join. Earlier in your mornings might be easy for me.
