My husband's leave is coming to an end. Tomorrow, we're driving back home to Kyiv.
My daughter asks me, “Why are you going back? Your home is here. You were born here and spent most of your life here.” My friends say, “Stay, don't go back. It's dangerous there.”
I don't know exactly what arguments to give them. I feel both happy and sad at the same time.
My home is there now. My husband and I have built it together. It's cosy and comfortable, and I feel good there.
Every morning, I read the news about what is happening in Kyiv. Photos of the aftermath of Russian shelling break my heart.
It is good to have a place to go to recover a little. I'm happy I could spend this time here, and thankful for the warm conversations, the new experience, and the precious time spent with my dearest people.
I'm glad I was here when a drainage pipe in the kitchen cracked. I organised everything, and the plumber took care of the rest. We also replaced the old cooker with a new one, chose and hung new light fittings throughout the flat, and repotted the plants. It's much more comfortable to live here now. But I've really missed home.

It rained almost the whole time I was here. Guess when this rainy spell is finally coming to an end? Tomorrow, just as I'm leaving. What a shame! I could have done so much more. Although, I'm grateful for everything I managed to do.

These photos were taken in the city park during our walk last weekend. The rides were still open, which surprised me. Some of the cafés were open, too. There weren't as many people as in summer. Some were feeding the ducks and swans, while others were posing for photos.
🍁 🍂
But the main character that day was Autumn.

Wow that's awesome and amazing
Having a home to come home to is important.
Thank you ❤️
My heart is broken over what is being done to Kyiv. I hope you remain safe
Thank you 🤗❤️🩹
Safe travels seems such a silly thing to say but I wish you safe travels. 👍
Not during the war.
Thank you! 🙂
I know. Keep calm and carry on. Makes sense to me.

You are very brave, but I know you will be happy to be home again. I think of you with each new horrific news report.
Thank you Melinda for all your support. We just got home. The apartment is cold and damp. What’s more, the power in the building went out due to shelling right before I left. And I hadn’t turned the lights off. So, my apartment stayed lit up for nearly three weeks 🙂🙂
But you know... home sweet home ❤️❤️❤️
Hope you are getting warmed up! At least with your home did not appear empty while you were away!

Home is where the heart is so an old saying goes, and if your happy place is Kyiv, then so be it. That is where you should be, you are brave beyond words.
That is a truly wise saying. For me, my home has long been wherever my beloved is
and so it should be x good to see you on here when you get the chance
It really pains me to hear about all the bombing, and that there's nothing you can do about it. Another winter is coming, as always, please take good care of yourself
Today we were shopping in Auchan. It is located next to a home improvement superstore that was hit by a Russian missile three days ago. My favorite Jysk, right beside it, burned down completely. I had recently bought an armchair, a floor lamp, and a side table there. My warm throws and sofa cushions were bought there. Seeing that was so painful. I feel so sorry for them. I’ve learned to buy the things I love in advance—because tomorrow, this store or that factory might burn down.

Wow, my first time 😍 Thanks!!!
The autumn colors in the photos are spectacular, despite the rain. I'm glad you had a good time visiting your old home. I understand both the desire to stay there, and the desire to go home. It's a tough situation. I wish you safe travels.
Thank you @scribblingramma
Autumn always amazes us, with colors like a box of crayons. I understand your longing for home home is a place in the heart of all those who are far from it.
So true
