I saw the Sandy sign so I took some time to figure out where the heck you are lol I've driven San Francisco to Vancouver, BC a couple of times so been by on the interstate anyway. Mt Hood dominates the drive for quite aways. We drove it one year after some fires. Don't remember the year but the smoke was still in the air and places were either still closed or just opening back up. Lots of thank you banners to the fire fighters on all the overpasses.

Yeah man it’s a magical place. I miss Vermont but absolutely love the PNW and wouldn’t change it for the world.
The fires were super concerning earlier this summer as well. Really only settled down in the past couple weeks; the first rain in two months last week helped out a lot. We had thousands of firefighters flown in from all around the world, and we definitely are incredibly grateful for each and every one of them
