Last Saturday I travelled from Muscat to Mumbai. This time it was an eventful travel. I normally travel on staff ticket, hubby checks the flight load and then accordingly books the ticket, either ID90 or ID50. ID90 is a subject to load ticket, where the payment is nominal, but then it is taking a chance. If the flight gets full, then I can get offloaded, whereas ID50 is a confirmed ticket. It is a concessional fare for staff and a confirmed ticket. He booked the ticket just 2 days in advance and the flight was more than half empty, so we went ahead with ID90.
The night before the travel also we checked the flight status and it was all good, flight was empty. It was a morning flight and I was very relaxed thinking there are so many seats available so I would not have a problem getting a seat. When I reached the airport, to my surprise, the flight was suddenly fully booked, from 76 empty seats. Suddenly there were only 2 empty seats remaining. Because of some issues going on at Saudi airport, there were some flights diverted to Muscat and then passengers got added on to the flight. Such things do not happen regularly, but yes, when it's a ID90 these kinds of situations one has to be prepared for. There were 2 seats available still, so they did not refuse me completely and asked me to wait.
Exactly one hour before the flight, I was called to the staff counter and then the boarding pass was issued to me. After that I had to rush at the gate, but before that I had to check-in my bags and this time I was carrying a big carton of a barbeque pit for my holiday home. In muscat we get some good ones and economical also. I do not get the same quality and type in Mumbai for this price. The box was within the dimensions allowed, but still it had to go in large-size luggage. That was another activity to complete. One of the staff quickly helped me with it and then I rushed. Thankfully there was no queue at the security and immigration, so everything happened within 5 minutes and in 10 minutes I was at the gate. Pheww that was a relief.
This is the pit I carried. It was all boxed up; I had to assemble it. Finally, mission successful.

I was mentally prepared to go back home and travel the next day, but then with god's grace I managed to get the seat. In the end, one seat was still empty.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Wow, what an incredibly thrilling experience at the airport! ✈️ It must have been quite a surprise to see the number of available seats drop suddenly from 76 down to just 2. It’s great to hear that you managed to get a boarding pass in the end and reached the gate right on time!
Oh yes, times like these make me nervous. Though I am mentally prepared to come home, I do not wish to and just want to travel as planned
May everything go smoothly, and may you be able to continue your journey safely, just as planned. 💖
It was such a thrilling experience, but thankfully, there were still two seats available.
All is well that ends well
Glad you got on the flight! Funny how flights can go from empty to full at a moments notice. That BBQ grill looks like it will be nice! How does it work?

These days it has become uncertain due to the ongoing middle east region conflicts.
It's not an electric one, it will need coal to burn, and it has a fan at the side to light the coal. It's a manual one but convinient.

that sudden jump from seventy six empty seats to fully booked sounds like a staff traveler's worst nightmare. hauling a whole barbecue pit through the airport on top of all that stress is dedication though.
Thank you, it had to be brought as I do not get the same quality back home here
