Japan Stories - Boat ride at Lake Kawaguchiko

Yesterday I shared some pictures of Mount Fuji and how significant landmark it is for Japan. When you visit here it's not only about Mount Fuji, but it is about the whole area of Yamanashi Prefecture of Chubu region. Besides seeing Mount Fuji there are so many other things to do and see. Lake Kawaguchiko is one of them. There are 5 main Fuji lakes at the northern foot of Mount Fuji and from all of them Lake Kawaguchiko is the most popular one and also easily accessible. Again the Lake is big and has many sides to visit.

There is one which falls near the ropeway which goes up to Mt. Tenjo and serves as an observation deck for Mount Fuji, then there is Oishi Park side, which also we visited, there is also a boat cruise side. Today I will share the Boat cruise side. Actually the boat ride was not a part of our plan, I was to take the ropeway to Mt. Tenjo, but on reaching there we got to know that it was closed for maintenance. It was quite a disappointment but then not in our control to do anything about it. So later we decided to do this boat ride as a replacement.

The boat ride was nice, but the boat was too small for 3 of us :-). In Japan one thing is there, that everything here is small size compared to places like India or Middle East countries. We are so used to big spaces that here we find it little difficult. Anyways hubby loves boat rides so we did not bother much about the size and went ahead. It was an hour ride, I do not remember the exact price I paid, but I think it was around 1500 Yen. I do remember it was very reasonable. The surrounding views of the lake is very beautiful. Because of the congested size we were uncomfortable and we finished our ride in around 40 mins only. But whatever we did we enjoyed.

During the boat ride we also got a glimpse of Fuji again from one of the sides. As I said in my earlier blog you can watch Mount Fuji from all around in that region, it's a big mountain so it cannot hide and this is a small town so there are high rise building to cover it up. Actually paying for the observation decks to watch Mount Fuji may be like a waste of money.

Here you can see the boat, for 2 people it is decent, but they advertise that 4 people can sit. We are 3, so breaking up in 2 boats would not be fun at all because then one of us would get separated out.

You must have had a good boat ride, observing and having a glimpse of the features around like Mount Fuji. Nice pictures too.
