This is during my day visit to the Murodo Snow wall, on this route there are multiple modes of transport that have to be changed. From our hotel in Tokyo to Ogizawa, which is the starting point of the route we drove down. After this driving is not possible, you have to take the mountain transport, which are the Electric bus and cable car to reach to the top. From Ogizawa to reach to Kurobe we took the Kanden Tunnel electric bus, this is the only way to reach here. There is another route, but that's from a different point and it is a very lengthy one, so this is the best one and most effecient. The ride takes around 20 minutes and in no time, we reached Kurobe Dam. Getting down from the Bus and directly in face of this view felt something magical.
Kurobe in Japanese is derived from 2 words. Kuro which means black and be means a section. In literal terms it means black section. There are different theories to this name. One is that the gorge from where the water flows is so narrow and deep, the sunlight does not fall here and from far it looks black and hence the name. The other theory is that there are lot of dark rocks and black soil from the mountains of this region and hence the name. When I looked at it, I found it magical. beautiful sight. The Mountains and the Lake both.
Today I will share the Mountains side of the Kurobe Dam. They are huge, we can see some peaks covered in snow, but overall, the whole are is a green blanket. While planning my day trip on this route I had thought that it would be just a simple walk through for the next stop. I did not expect this; it was a beautiful surprise for me, and we ended up spending almost an hour here.
The views

This is the starting point at Ogizawa station from where the Kanden Electric Tunnel bus starts.

Let me share the Lake views of the Kurobe Dam in Part 2

What an extraordinary journey! The combination of towering mountains, snow-capped peaks, and the beautiful Kurobe Dam is truly magical. Often, the most unexpected places on a trip turn out to be the most memorable experiences.β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

Such a breathtaking travel post! The scenery around Kurobe Dam looks absolutely magical and green. Thanks for sharing this wonderful journey with us!
Thank you. The best thing is this is just on the way, and I never expected it to be a destination by itself.
That is gorgeous! I've always wanted to make it to Japan, one of these days... I love those mountain peaks, so lush and green, with snow capped peaks in the distance. Beautiful. I'm glad you had the chance to travel there, so very cool!

Japan is out of this world kind of place. It's like, it has little bit of everything from all over the world. But too much walking in this country, distances are huge. A 2 weeks visit also cannot feel enough. If you are ever planning, do a minimum of 3 weeks.

That first view after the bus ride sounds magical, green mountains and snow peaks together. I also love trips where one stop turns into an hour, did you get to see the dam side too?
Yes, I spent a good amount of time here. The 360 degree view is simply breathtaking
That 360 degree view sounds worth every minute you spent there. I am glad the dam side lived up to it too, that first view after the bus ride already sounded magical.
