The next highlight of the six-hour Wadi Rum desert expedition was a good few kilometers away from the previous one. It doesn't seem like much, but traveling in an off-road vehicle in the desert isn't exactly highway driving.

Kolejna atrakcja, którą przewidywała 6-cio godzinna wyprawa po pustyni Wadi Rum oddalona była od poprzednie o kilka ładnych kilometrów. Wydaje się że to niewiele, ale podróżowanie autem terenowym po pustyni to nie jest jazda po autostradzie.

According to the GPS, our average speed hovered around 15-20 km/h, so it wasn't exactly a breakneck. Adding to that, frequent stops because the car couldn't handle it meant we arrived after almost an hour.

Według GPS nasza uśredniona prędkość oscylowała w okolicy 15-20 km na godzinę, więc zawrotna nie była. Do tego częste postoje, bo auto nie dawały rady spowodowały że na miejsce dotarliśmy po niemal godzinie.

It's quite tiring sitting in the back of a car without a canopy and exposed to the bright sun. But oh well, we knew what we were signing up for.

To dość męczące, gdy siedzi się na pace samochodu bez zadaszenia i wystawia się na ostre słońce. No ale cóż, wiedzieliśmy na co się pisaliśmy.

We finally reached our long-awaited destination: the House of Lawrence of Arabia, where a mysterious structure sits on a hill and offers a beautiful view of the entire area.

Dotarliśmy wreszcie do długo wyczekiwanego celu, czyli do domu Lawrence'a z Arabii, gdzie na wzgórzu znajduje się tajemnicza budowla, i rozpościera się piękny widok na całą okolicę.

The ruins of the stone building are likely the remains of a Nabatean cistern and the home of T.E. Lawrence, a British officer from the time of the Arab Revolt. It must be admitted that the place is charming.

Ruiny kamiennego budynku to prawdopodobnie pozostałości cysterny z czasów nabatejskich i jednocześnie dom T.E. Lawrence'a, oficera brytyjskiego z czasów powstania Arabskiego. Trzeba przyznać, że miejsce urokliwe.

Nearby, of course, there were also covered shelters and tents serving tea and plenty of souvenirs from Jordan. At least there was a respite from the strong November sun.

W pobliżu oczywiście nie mogło zabraknąć zadaszonych wiat i namiotów serwujących herbatę i mnóstwo pamiątek z Jordanii. Można było tam przynajmniej odpocząć od mocnego listopadowego słońca.

We climbed back into the truck and continued our journey. We wandered through the desert again for several dozen minutes in the hot sun before reaching the next attraction.

Wsiadamy na pakę i jedziemy dalej. Znowu snujemy się po pustyni kilkadziesiąt minut w upalnym słońcu by dotrzeć do kolejnej atrakcji.

Um Frouth Rock Arch

This natural structure, resembling a bridge, is the Um Frouth Rock Arch. It is one of the most recognizable attractions in the Wadi Rum desert.

Ta naturalna konstrukcja, przypominająca most to łuk skalny Um Frouth. To jedna z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych atrakcji na pustyni Wadi Rum.

This rock formation is located about 25 meters above the ground and can be accessed via steps carved into the slope, but these are very slippery and deceptive. My wife climbed the arch. Unfortunately, due to my fear of heights, I was only an observer.

Ta formacja skalna znajduje się około 25 metrów nad ziemią i można na nią się dostać wyżłobionymi w zboczu schodkami, które jednak są bardzo śliskie i zwodnicze. Wejścia na ten łuk dokonała moja żona. Ja niestety ze względu na lęk wysokości byłem tylko obserwatorem.

Here again, there were tents with gadgets and hot tea, which we indulged in, and after a short rest, we continued on our way.

Tu ponownie nie zabrakło namiotów z gadżetami i gorącą herbatą, na którą się skusiliśmy, a o krótkim odpoczynku ruszyliśmy dalej.
