The state of Sucre is a region of Venezuela with a vast and diverse geography, history, and culture. Among its fifteen municipalities, the Arismendi Municipality stands out with particular appeal, occupying the entire northeastern portion of the state, the so-called "Paria Peninsula."

Its main parish is Río Caribe, where the municipal capital, also named Río Caribe, is located.
Río Caribe was founded, according to some sources, by Diego de Brito in 1647, and the central nucleus of the settlement was what would become the Church of San Miguel Arcángel, whose construction was completed in 1717. We will refer to this church in the next post.
I must admit that Río Caribe is a place I really like. A welcoming, atmospheric spirit, with hospitable and humble people, and streets and buildings that soothe the soul. And it is to this feeling that I would like to dedicate these installments.

From the entrance, we are greeted by the embrace of its coastline on a pleasant boardwalk where, especially the young residents, go to stroll and relax, and the pier from which fishing boats depart and arrive, as fishing is one of the fundamental activities of this place.
Moving on through the city, we come across a splendid space that has always captivated us: Plaza Sucre. It is a place that, in addition to honoring the Sucre-born hero of independence with a graceful sculpture, opens our senses to the immense sky with its enormous royal palms.

As we stroll through its streets, we are delighted by the tranquil and well-preserved environment, particularly the houses, which reflect a past where architecture was in harmony with the people. We see tall, single-story buildings with high windows, reflecting a careful consideration of the heat. The houses boast delicate ornamentation on their facades and are painted in pleasing colors, perfectly suited to the tropics.

Thanks, @theinkwell.
Río Caribe—a corner of Sucre I remember with special fondness, even though it has been many years since I last visited—was always a stop I enjoyed, ever since I first arrived via the old, winding road that crosses the mountain. Later, when the route from El Morro de Puerto Santo opened, the journey felt like a sudden leap.
So many memories. Thank you.
Cuántos recuerdos. Gracias.
