From Haji Lane to Gardens by the Bay... A Week on Two Wheels

Over the past week, most of my days have revolved around cycling, wandering, and of course, eating. I feel like food naturally becomes part of every cycling trip because whenever I visit a new place, I also end up looking for something good to eat nearby. Sometimes that becomes just as memorable as the ride itself.

I have already shared some of the places I visited recently, but there are also a few spots that I did not post about right away. In some cases, I only managed to take a handful of photos, so I decided to keep them in my camera roll first until I could gather enough pictures to share them all together in one post. For today’s blog, I wanted to do exactly that and show some of the other places I cycled to during the past week, written in the same warm, photo-forward, diary-like travel style I usually enjoy.

The first stop is Haji Lane. There is currently a food bazaar happening there, so I decided to drop by and check it out for myself. The area already has a lively personality on normal days, but with the bazaar going on, it feels even more energetic and colorful. There were plenty of food stalls, lots of people walking around, and a festive atmosphere that made the whole visit exciting. Of course, I also revisited Sultan Mosque, which for me is the true centerpiece of the area. Its golden dome is such a remarkable sight, and it is one of those landmarks that immediately catches your attention even from far away. The mosque adds so much character to the surroundings, and together with the crowd, the lights, and the charming buildings nearby, the whole place felt vibrant and pleasant.

Next is Aljunied, where I went mainly to eat Sarawak food. That was the original purpose of the visit, but when I arrived, I noticed how beautiful the sky looked during blue hour. The traditional buildings in the area paired so well with the soft evening light, so I could not resist taking a few snapshots. Sometimes it is funny how a food trip can suddenly turn into a mini photo walk. Aljunied may not always be the first place that comes to mind for casual exploring, but the mood there that evening felt calm and photogenic in a simple and honest way.

Another place I visited was Jalan Besar. This is one of those areas that I keep returning to because it has this interesting mix of old and new. On one side, you have traditional shophouses and familiar streets with plenty of character. On the other, you also have tech-related businesses that give the area a more modern and practical side. Honestly, this is where I usually go when I need to buy tech stuff, but over time I have also grown to appreciate the architecture around it. There is something enjoyable about seeing traditional designs still standing proudly amid the more modern businesses. It makes the area feel layered and alive.

Lastly, I also cycled to Gardens by the Bay. No matter how many times I visit, I just do not get tired of the Supertrees. Their architecture always amazes me. They look futuristic and almost unreal, especially when framed by the changing sky and all the surrounding greenery. Cycling around the area is always a fun experience for me. It can get crowded, yes, but somehow that also adds to the excitement. There is always movement, always something to notice, and the views are consistently beautiful.

I hope you enjoyed the photos I am sharing today. These were some of the extra places I visited over the past week, and I am glad I finally got to put them together in one post. Hopefully, I will be able to explore even more places during the coming holiday. Cheers!

Hive is literally a place full of diamonds n gems n u surely r one of them.
I liked the diary style of this post. Its real and relatable. Sometimes we just want to ride and eat without worrying about posting instantly. Glad u got to enjoy the Haji Lane bazaar! The contrast between the old shops in Jalan Besar and the new tech businesses is a nive combo for the buyers. In my view, cause physically i ve never been there, But watching all these gr8 shots made me think that i just visited all these places. You got the art to capture cool & realistic shots....

Qué buen recorrido te aventaste esta semana. Se nota que disfrutas mucho esa combinación de andar en bici, sacar fotos y probar comida nueva.

It sounds like you had an amazing week exploring. There is something really satisfying about mixing a cycling trip with good food and photography

I admire you. The weather recently is really bad. Either rainy or humid, would have deterred me from riding.
