Chasing Calm at Lower Seletar Reservoir

This weekend’s weather really tested my patience. Since cycling has become part of my weekends, I always hope for a clear sky and a good enough evening for me to head out and explore. So when the rain started pouring heavily in the afternoon, I honestly felt frustrated. I thought my cycling plan for the weekend would be ruined once again. Luckily, around 5 PM, the sky finally cleared just enough for me to take the chance. I quickly grabbed my bike and made my way to Lower Seletar Reservoir.

I had been planning this trip for the past few weeks, so I was really eager to make it happen. I also felt that I needed this ride more than usual. Sometimes all it takes is one good trip to bring back that excitement for content creation. Lately, I have been trying my best to stay consistent with posting on Hive and on my other social media pages too, so this little adventure felt like the perfect push that I needed.

As soon as I started pedaling, that feeling of being stuck at home slowly disappeared. The more I cycled, the more my energy came back. That is one thing I really appreciate about cycling. It clears my mind, lifts my mood, and gives me something to look forward to. By the time I was getting closer to the reservoir, I was already feeling excited again to explore, take photos, and record a few video clips as well.

Lower Seletar Reservoir turned out to be the perfect place for this kind of weekend trip. I was not looking for something too intense. I just wanted a relaxing ride and a calm atmosphere, and this place gave exactly that. The route going there was also quite clear and manageable. I only came across a few joggers and cyclists along the way, so the ride felt smooth and peaceful. Of course, there were a few uphill and downhill sections too, which made the trip a little more challenging and exciting. Those parts really pushed my legs and reminded me that I still have a lot of room to improve. More cycling practice to go for sure.

What I enjoyed most about the place was the mood of the reservoir itself. The water looked so still and calm, almost like a mirror reflecting the evening sky. The sunset that day was subtle, soft, and warm. It was not one of those dramatic fiery sunsets, but it had a quiet beauty that made the whole area feel even more picturesque. The light was gentle, and it gave the surroundings a very peaceful vibe that I really appreciated.

One of the landmarks of the area is the Rocket Tower Observatory. It is such a striking structure and definitely gives the place its own identity. I never managed to climb up this time though because by then my legs were already feeling tired from the ride. Maybe next time LOL. Still, I was more than happy just exploring the ground area around it. Even without going up, the views were already beautiful enough for me.

I was also surprised to see a few other visitors spending time there. Some were taking photos, while others were simply sitting down and enjoying the evening with a picnic by the water. That made the place feel even nicer. It was quiet, but not lonely. Peaceful, but still alive.

This trip to Lower Seletar Reservoir was exactly the kind of weekend reset that I needed. It gave me that calming experience I was looking for, while also reminding me why I enjoy cycling so much in the first place. Now I am already feeling excited again for next weekend and for whatever new spot I get to explore next through cycling.

See you on my next cycling adventure!
