A Peaceful Countryside Stay at B-Tel Chom Tong Resort, Chiang Mai

If I'm being honest, my trip to Chiang Mai is still lingering in my mind even now. I'm already missing Thailand. Lately, I've been craving Thai food again and wishing I could breathe the fresh countryside air of Chiang Mai one more time. It makes me understand why Thailand remains one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. The beauty of the country, combined with the warmth and hospitality of its people, is simply hard to forget.

For this post, I want to share my experience staying at B-Tel Chom Tong Resort in Chiang Mai.

During my first visit to Chiang Mai, we stayed at Nornnuea @ Inthanon. On our second visit, however, we decided to try something different and booked a stay at B-Tel Chom Tong Resort. While both accommodations include breakfast, the overall experience is completely different.

Nornnuea feels modern and follows a more international hotel concept. B-Tel Chom Tong, on the other hand, offers a bungalow-style accommodation that feels much closer to a traditional home. Instead of a single building with rows of rooms, guests stay in individual bungalow units scattered across a spacious property. It was actually my first time experiencing this type of accommodation, and I immediately found it charming.

The moment we arrived, I was already impressed by the surroundings. The entire property is filled with trees, flowering plants, and open green spaces. It felt like stepping into a small village community rather than a resort. The peaceful atmosphere was one of the first things I noticed, and it instantly made me feel relaxed after our journey.

Being located far from the city center, the resort offers a completely different pace of life. Instead of traffic noise and crowded streets, we were greeted by birds chirping throughout the day and the soothing silence of nature at night. For someone like me who spends most of his time in the city, this was exactly the kind of environment I needed.

What I liked most was the layout of the bungalow units. They are spaced far apart from one another, giving guests a sense of privacy while still maintaining the feeling of being part of a small community. Almost every unit is surrounded by beautiful plumeria trees, many of which were blooming during our stay. Waking up each morning and seeing these elegant flowers outside the room was such a pleasant experience. It gave the entire resort a warm homestay vibe that I really appreciated.

The resort grounds are also perfect for photography. Near the dining area, there is a beautiful garden featuring a massive tree decorated with hanging lanterns. Combined with the surrounding greenery and numerous plumeria trees, it creates a lovely setting that feels both relaxing and photogenic. Naturally, I couldn't resist taking plenty of photos while exploring the property.

One of the most exciting discoveries was a mango tree beside one of the bungalow units. The branches were heavy with mangoes hanging surprisingly low to the ground. According to the owner, guests are welcome to pick and enjoy them. I honestly found that incredibly exciting. It isn't every day that you get the opportunity to harvest fresh mangoes straight from the tree. Some of them were literally hanging at waist level, making the experience even more fun.

Another highlight of our stay was the breakfast. The meal was simple but delicious. We were served a fluffy omelet along with Thai-style chicken rice. Sometimes, simple food prepared well can be more satisfying than an elaborate buffet, and this breakfast definitely hit the spot. It was the perfect way to start a day of exploring.

As if the place wasn't charming enough already, there was also a resident cat roaming around the property. The cat was very friendly and seemed completely comfortable around guests. Of course, I spent some time taking photos and saying hello. Little details like this often become some of my favorite memories during a trip.

Overall, my stay at B-Tel Chom Tong Resort was wonderful. It offered something different from the usual hotel experience and allowed me to enjoy a slower, more peaceful side of Chiang Mai. Between the beautiful gardens, blooming plumeria trees, fresh mangoes, delicious breakfast, and tranquil atmosphere, it became one of the memorable highlights of my trip.

Looking back at these photos now makes me miss Chiang Mai even more. Hopefully, it won't be too long before I find myself back in Thailand again, enjoying the fresh air, wonderful food, and warm hospitality that made this trip so special.

See you in my next adventure!

What a vacation!

All the safety and elegance of a hotel and the seclusion of a jungle retreat. Then the food! The fresh mangoes remind me of my friend @sanjeevm.

How many times can I tune into Hive and discover wild corners of the world like I was there!?
