These posts just get better and better, it is quite amazing how good the railway infrastructure is in europe. I have been to Italy twice over the past few years but not the Venice, it looks stunning thought and the book shop looks really cool despite it being super busy. Turin is on my list of places to go and see that along with Milan.

After reading this post i am considering rail travel more ive flown lots and have always endured tight leg room, overpriced suitcase allowance and delays so railway would work for me ive already had the ferry from Harwich to hook of holland in my mind for a while that is reasonably cheap considering you get a small room as its an overnight ferry with train tickets included in the price to get to port of Harwich. i will see what new job i can land and see what is possible this year with travel.

You should look into Interrail. On of our kids went all across Europe with that. They did hostels to keep the cost down. You might even bump into some Hivers along the way.

Look out for black Friday offers on inter rail @chris-uk , they've done it at 25% discount in the past two years and it includes Eurostar to and from Europe in addition to the days you buy in Europe.
