RE: an Off-the-Beaten-Tour through the Nine Little Streets in Amsterdam

Nine Alleyways! That is perhaps a better translation than I made.

Amsterdam was built back in the days, in the golden age, as we call it. This was the era in which Amsterdam became the hub for international trade - mostly - to Europe. When the Dutch went out and about with their ships, found and transported pepper and all sorts of other herbs to Europe. Back then, most of these houses served as logistics buildings. Little canal cargo boats moving the goods in and out, in front of the building, being loaded and unloaded. Most of these buildings are now occupied by people instead of goods.
