Vietnam Trip Series #2 - Did I fall in love with Vietnam?

I don’t travel that often, but when I do, I try to make the most of it. This trip stuck with me more than I expected. This was the first time going somewhere after we had the kids, so they were over the moon about taking a plane. I thought they would be a little scared, but they were true champions, passing out only about an hour into our flight, haha.

I didn’t really know what to expect when visiting Vietnam. I was mostly looking forward to the food, but something else spoke to me as well. There is an old energy that flows through it that is very hard to describe, but you can feel it everywhere. Almost like the place remembers more than it shows. While the whole vibe might be a bit too touristy for me, I saw the beauty it had to offer, and I can honestly say I fell in love with it. I often find myself thinking about actually moving there, how life might be so much different, less rushed, more peaceful, and serene.

This was one of the first spots where the views really caught me off guard.

The views were unexpected and honestly surprised me. Being so used to South Korea's mountainous terrain, the landscapes Vietnam offered felt different in a really good way, and I found myself just taking it all in.

Having visited many temples and mountains in South Korea, Vietnam felt older in a way, as if more history took place here and more memories were left behind by long-lost travelers. The calm and peacefulness were something I did not expect at all, and even though it was a long walk and there were just too many people, I truly enjoyed every minute of it.

Seeing it through the kids’ eyes made it even better. They were running around, completely in the moment, while I was trying to take it all in at a slower pace. It was one of those moments where you realize everyone is enjoying the same place, just in different ways.

This was one of many little adventures I had while visiting Vietnam, the first, but definitely not the most memorable. I honestly hope to return in the near future, this time for a longer stay to explore even more.
