Now for our daily shots one gloomy afternoon in Baguio City with my wife, our son Joaquin and I found were on the that floor terrace of SM Mall. The sky was gray over the city.

We decided to take a break from walking around the city and just leaned against the railing to relax. We weren't here to shop or eat, we just wanted to take in the scenery. Being up on this terrace gives you a unique vantage point of the City of Pines.

As we looked out towards the mountains, the sight was honestly disheartening. The mountains surrounding the city were no longer more covered by trees. Instead, they were covered in a concrete jungle of houses and buildings. It was a work of structures on the slopes.

My wife pointed out how far up the development had gone. It seemed like every available space on the mountainsides had been claimed. We could see buildings and small houses stacked one on top of other. It was a stark reminder of urbanization happening right before our eyes.

It made me think about the future. If this pace continues, soon there might be no more trees left on these mountains. The City of Pines might lose its identity. The gloomy weather seemed to match our mood perfectly as we watched the concretes over the hills.
