Back to Nara =/= Mal wieder in Nara 👹🍣🎎 Wonderful Japan ENG-GER
The Kansai region in the south of Japan’s main island Honshu, is something of a traditional heartland of the country, particularly the ancient capital of Kyoto. Here you also find the large metropolis of Osaka, as well as the ancient imperial city of Nara. I had already been to Nara twice myself, but my last visit was quite some time ago. And since we happen to be in the area, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to stop by.
From 710 to 784, Nara was Japan’s first permanent capital. To this day, the city retains its significance as a “living museum” with temples such as Tōdai-ji and Kōfuku-ji, which together are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. And then there are the deer in Nara Park, which are among the major highlights of any visit to the city.
And that’s exactly where everyone wants to go—and where we wanted to go too. As I mentioned, it’s peak travel season right now, and half the country is visiting here at the moment. And here we are, right in the middle of it all, trying to do our own thing.
I’ll tell you all about what we experienced here once we’re back; for today, here are three photos from Nara that might convey a little of the wonderful charm of this amazing old city. As I said, I’ll share everything else later, though of course I’ll be bringing back a whole bunch of photos that I want to share with you all. I think that will quite some task...

Die Kansairegion im Süden der japanischen Hauptinsel Honshu ist so etwas wie das traditionelle Zentrum des Landes, vor allem die alte Hauptstadt Kyoto. Aber auch die große Metropole Osaka befindet sich hier und zusätzlich auch noch die alte Kaiserstadt Nara. Ich selber war bereits zwei Mal hier gewesen, aber mein letzter Besuch leigt nun doch schon einige Zeit zurück. Und da wir gerade ja in der Gegend sind, hat sich ein Besuch hier gerade angeboten.
Nara war von 710 bis 784 Japans die erste permanente Hauptstadt Japans. Die Stadt bewahrt bis heute ihre Bedeutung als „lebendes Museum“ mit Tempeln wie Tōdai‑ji und Kōfuku‑ji, die gemeinsam zum UNESCO‑Welterbe gehören. Und da sind dann auch noch die Rehe im Nara-Park, die zu den großen Höhepunkten eines jeden Besuches hier gehören.
Und genau dort, wo sie alle hinwollen, wollten auch wir diesmal hin. Wie bereits gesagt ist ja in Sachen Reisen gerade Hochsaison und das halbe Land ist hier derzeit zu Besuch. Und wir mittendrin und versuchen dabei unser ganz eigene Ding zu machen.
Was wir hier erlebt haben, erzähle ich euch noch unserer Rückkehr, für heute tun es drei Bilder aus Nara, die vielleich ein wenig von dem wunderbaren Charm dieses tollen alten Stadt herrüberingen. Alles andere dann wie gesagt später, wobei ich natürlich eine ganze Menge Bilder mitbringen werde, die ich alle mit euch teilen werde. Ich denke, da habe ich mir ganz schön was vorgenommen...
