So what was so special about that area back in the day that it has such a volume of that sort of thing? I'm guessing it would have been mashed up between Europe and the North America then right? Sounds like a cool trip. You ever been to the UP of Michigan? We have some really old rocks up there....

Nothing special. It was a shallow ocean during the Jurassic. Lots of places were. Today they are exposed as a sea cliff and it is prone to erosion, so lots of the fossils easily come out due to constant weathering.
