I spent a month in Kolkata, India in August-September 2026. Lived at 5$ hostels with the kitchen, cooked all the way - dalia (broken wheat grains) with cheese, eggs, veggies, etc - was trying to follow my slow carb diet. And almost daily had a photo walk with a focus on cats.
But, of course, I didn't miss opportunities to shoot street photography too.
I was amazed by this colorful group of people, who, perhaps, traveling in this truck. Guess they were sort of pilgrims considering I spotted them near Kalighat Temple. I liked that so much that couldn't help asking their consent; they silently looked back and I considered that "yes".
More people in colorful garments... Sleeping ladies, also in the vicinity of the Kalighat Temple.
Yours truly:
Again Kalighat because I normally didn't travel far from the area my hostel (Bubble Beds Hostel) was located. I chose this area as it was perfect for photography and enjoyed walking around it.
Colors and art are everywhere in Kolkata as well as discturbing scenes:
Decay is everywhere:
But that's one of the reasons I like Kolkata - it knows how to amaze.
More guys in orange:
They stopped curious about me and I photographed them immediately which made them happy.
Quite a wild-looking guy, and even more impressing religious art:
Kolkata inhabinants usually are glad to be photographed but don't normally disturb a photographer as it happened to me in Rajasthan where too many people wanted to shake my hand and ask standard questions - I just had too little time for photography and felt drained with constant attention and boring questions.
Quite a balanced place for street phorography, Kolkata is, with a nice public transportation system. Though, the city is incovenient in too many ways: super dirty street food options, awful retail, everything is so inefficient that you can't stay sane if you are in Kolkata for a long while...
My advice: do as much photography as you can (with as little computer work as possible) - hurry to do maximum before your spirit turns low - first, you don't know that but it always ends this way.
More images from legendary Kolkata is ahead, stay tuned, dear reader! 😎
The photos were taken with a Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D on a full-frame DSLR Nikon D750 in August-September 2026 in Kolkata, India

Haha! Wow! What striking images! Such beautiful, attractive colour combinations mixed with some really odd scenes. My brain is shouting! 😂
Okay, that guy sleeping like that looks as if he’s been crucified (excuse me, Jesus!). But how on earth can he sleep like that? Haha! His legs are literally keeping him on that tiny, rather short seat/bed!
That disturbing painting isn’t nice at all! Look where the blood is landing, in their mouths? It’s kinda vampirish, but pretty harsh! I wonder what that’s supposed to mean, bit scary. And the mooouuuseee! Enjoying the scraps! 😂
Though I do like those ladies chilling in their beautiful, attractive attire. I love photographs that tell a story, but this one is really full, as in FULL! Haha!
Thanks for sharing! Great shots, and you look healthy from all that walking around doing photo yoga! Well done! 😄
That's a superpower of many Indians 😄
😀 That can be something even more surprising. Like, that lady cut her head off but.... the other ladies can be the same person, the same goddess (Kali)... So why there are 3 of them and drinking their own blood?.. No idea. Worth researching...
Love the expression! 😀
Thanks! I weigh still the same despite being in the country of pastry, Georgia - consider myself sort of a hero - everyone wants me to eat a pie 2-3 times a day... 😄
Thank you!! 😊🥂
#bilpcoin #bpc #truth ## The Gardener's Choice
There are two ways to tend a garden.
The first is to plant, to water, to wait with patience for the slow miracle of growth. To protect the tender shoots from wind and weather. To know that the harvest will come in its own time, and that your hands have helped bring it forth.
The second is to take. To pull the fruit before it is ripe. To salt the earth so that nothing else may grow. To call this harvest "curation" while the garden dies around you.
The blockchain shows us which gardeners are which. It shows us who planted and who took. It shows us who built and who burned.
Choose your hands wisely. The garden remembers.
The Language of the Body

Your mind will rationalize. Your body will not lie. Tight shoulders, shallow breath, restless legs—these are not inconveniences. They are messages. We treat the body as a vehicle to carry our ambitions, but it is the compass that tells us when we’ve strayed. Happiness is not just a mental state; it is a physical experience. Success is not sustainable if it costs your health. Today, listen. Stretch. Breathe deeply. Move with intention.
The Craft of Listening
We speak to be heard, but we connect by hearing. Listening is not waiting for your turn. It is an act of surrender, a temporary exile of the ego. Happiness lives in the space between words. Success thrives on accurate perception. Today, listen to someone without planning your reply. Let their truth land. You will be surprised by what emerges when you stop performing and start receiving.
The Alchemy of Failure

We treat failure as a verdict, but it is merely data. Every misstep contains a coordinate: a boundary to respect, a method to abandon, a truth to integrate. To archive success, you must file away your stumbles not as shame, but as syllabus. Happiness does not require a flawless record. It requires an honest ledger. Today, examine one recent disappointment. Extract the lesson. Close the book. Move forward lighter.
The Arithmetic of Integrity
Integrity is not a feeling. It is a calculation. It is the alignment between what you claim and what you do, measured against the immutable record of your actions.
When the arithmetic does not balance, no amount of rhetoric can restore the equation. The ledger demands honesty, and it accepts nothing less.
The Mirror
Look into the mirror of the blockchain. What do you see?
Not the face the whales have painted for you. Not the narrative spun by those who profit from your silence. But the raw, unfiltered reflection of what has actually happened on this network.
Every transaction. Every delegation. Every downvote cast in malice. Every reward farmed through coordination. It is all there, waiting for you to see it.
Today, choose to look.
The Builders
We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For
No one is coming to fix this. No regulator. No whistleblower. No savior with a million HP. We are the ones. We are the builders. We are the truth-tellers. We are the ones who will create the alternative, post by post, block by block, choice by choice. Today, pick up your tools. The work is waiting.
For in the end, the future belongs to those who build it.
The Cost of Comfort
What Are You Trading for Peace?
Some trade truth for rewards. Some trade integrity for delegation. Some trade voice for visibility. Every day, someone somewhere is making this trade. The question is: what are you trading? And is the price worth what you are buying?
For in the end, comfort bought with integrity is a debt that always comes due.

For in the end, you cannot fight what you cannot name.
The Courage to Speak
Silence Is the Currency of the Corrupt
There is a particular kind of evil that does not require action. It only requires your silence.
Every day you choose not to speak, you are speaking. Every day you choose not to look, you are looking away. Every day you choose not to question, you are answering on behalf of those who profit from your compliance.
The downvoting whales of Hive understand this. They know that if they can silence enough voices, the remaining ones will fall in line. They know that if they can label enough truth as "spam," the community will stop searching for signal. They know that your silence is their most valuable asset.
Do not give it to them.
Speak today. Share the data. Point to the ledger. Ask the questions they do not want asked. You do not need a million Hive Power to do this. You only need a voice and the courage to use it.
For in the end, silence is not peace. It is the sound of a garden being salted.

What a truly and strong shots… they capture the kindness and the chaos in India. I learned so much from that country… thanks for sharing
Glad you liked the photos! 😊 Thank you, @belug!
Wonderful shots Sir.
Thanks! 😎
I always enjoy street photography because it captures the character of a city through everyday moments. In people's faces, the streets, and the little details we often overlook, there’s a lot to discover. Kolkata definitely has diverse and fascinating scenes for a photographer.
True. I sometimes feel discouraged 'cause street photography takes a lot of time and brings almost no money but when I see older photos of mine, I feel like "Jesus, that's the best type of photography, I should go out for a photo walk as soon as possible". It's about real emotions, real life, and documenting history - a mission worth living for.
I feel the same way about my paintings, and when I look back at my old works, I tell myself that these were created in conditions where no one supported me. We artists usually go about creating our works this way many times. Have a good day.
It’s their "orange day," haha! But I like their outfits—especially the ones the women are wearing in the last photo; they still wear those even now. I can also see a woman who looks tired, talking about her problems—hahaha!
Yeah, Indian garments are fun. I especially loved women's outfits in Bikaner, Rajasthan - light, elegant, with sophisticated shades of red and pink... Like this
Doesn't the government monitor the cleanliness of street food stalls? I feel sorry for the people there. It seems like the government isn't doing much about it, even when it comes to keeping public streets clean.
Honestly... I feel Indian officials aren't capable of monitoring anything.

Fantastic, the Indian sub continent is just the place for all sorts of street photography from the vibrant like this post, to the slums and the darkness of other places. You don't have to walk far to capture life.
Yes, but it slowly drains your mental power until you are at the edge of insanity :D At least it happened to me each time I was there.
Thank you!
or was it wacky baccy LOL?

A month in Kolkata on dalia and hostel cooking sounds like my kind of trip, and I love that the photo walks were mostly about cats. The colorful group near Kalighat Temple really stood out too. Was Kolkata easier to shoot in than Rajasthan, or did you just get luckier with the crowds there?
Thank you! 😊 Kolkata was less stressful: there are sidewalks, few stray dogs, better retail, decent public transportation, and people don't drain your time with endless handshakes and senseless talks (though sometimes I had interesting conversations there) but they don't mind being photographed. However, Pushkar, a small holy town in Rajasthan, is a super lovely place to be - even more comfy than Kolkata.
Pushkar sounds lovely, even comfier than Kolkata is high praise. The no-handshakes thing made me laugh, I can see why that gets old fast. Did Pushkar give you better photo walks too, or was it more of a slow-wandering kind of place?
Great photos, really capture the beautiful chaos of the country. I’ve never been there and it’s on my list of places, I’d be photographing everything constantly!
The rodent in the bowl was interesting, all creatures seem pretty sacred there whereas here they’d be regarded as pests!
Congratulations @x-rain! You received the biggest smile and some love from TravelFeed! Keep up the amazing blog. 😍 Your post was also chosen as top pick of the day and is now featured on the TravelFeed front page.
