ENGLISH CONTENT

Hello to all members of this community, photography and art lovers! I'm still in the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, recovering emotionally before returning to the capital. One of my goals was to visit the museum, which is the only place where one can truly appreciate works of art, unlike in the capital, where there are several museums and galleries (I've previously shared photos of my visits to these places). I had learned through social media that they had opened an exhibition called Printed Memories, so I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to see it before it closed.

I went to the museum in the afternoon, and since the weather was hot, I was glad that the place was somewhat open, as the facilities don't have air conditioning. So, I spent part of the visit using my fan until my temperature (raised by walking in the sun) stabilized. I was surprised to discover that one of the featured artists, Pedro Rodríguez, was my drawing teacher during my first semester studying Fine Arts (a degree I had to put on hold due to personal reasons).

In addition to the works by the featured artists, there were also some pieces from the museum's collection. I like that they do that, because it allows you to find a balance between older works and more recent ones, like a kind of "link."

The great thing about the museum is that, since it's not very crowded, you can get a guided tour from one of the staff members. Last time, I had a guided tour of the current exhibition, but this time, the guide was already busy with a group, so I decided to explore the exhibition on my own. First, because I felt awkward joining a group that wasn't part of my own, and second, because I was short on time and wasn't sure if I could get a guided tour and then look at the pieces on my own.

In this way, while the group received all the information, I simply paused at each work, read the description, and then admired it, observing what kinds of feelings and thoughts arose, as well as appreciating the materials used. This last aspect is something I really enjoy. I think that's why I'm more drawn to works created with mixed media.

When photographing the pieces, I ran into a couple of problems. Among them were the works protected by glass. It's understandable that this always happens to me, since the reflection always "bounces" and I have to do some serious maneuvering to capture the image. That's why some of the photos might look "crooked," but that's because I was trying to find the best angle to minimize the reflection. Also, some of the works are hung very high up, where you can't get close enough... It's not that I want to touch the paintings, haha, but I like to get close enough to appreciate the details, and that's impossible in those cases, haha.

It's always a pleasure to find exhibitions at that museum, because, as I've mentioned in past posts, the place was closed for years and is now working to establish itself as a space open to the public. Therefore, I sincerely hope it can become one of the most popular meeting places and attractions for the city's residents, thus also motivating students from the University of Humanities and Arts, which is located just a few blocks away.

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad, amantes de la fotografías y del arte! Todavía me encuentro en la ciudad de Barquisimeto (Venezuela), recuperándome emocionalmente antes de volver a la capital. Entre mis deseos, estaba el acercarme al museo, el cual es el único espacio como tal en dónde pueden apreciarse obras artísticas, a diferencia de la capital, donde hay varios museos y galerías (anteriormente, les he mostrado fotografías de mis visitas a estos lugares). Me había enterado gracias a las redes sociales, de que habían inaugurado la exposición llamada Memorias impresas, por lo que, quería aprovechar de verla antes de que la misma, fuese retirada.

Fui al museo por la tarde y como el clima estaba caluroso, me alegré de que el lugar fuera un tanto abierto, ya que las instalaciones no cuentan con aire acondicionado, por lo que estuve parte del recorrido utilizando mi abanico mientras mi temperatura (aumentada por la caminata bajo el sol), se estabilizaba. Me sorprendió hallarme con que uno de los artistas exponentes, "Pedro Rodríguez", fue mi profesor de dibujo durante mi primer semestre estudiando Artes plásticas (carrera que tuve que paralizar por factores personales).

Además de las obras de los artistas exponentes, se encontraban también algunas piezas pertenecientes al museo. Me gusta que hagan eso, pues te permite hallar una equilibrio entre las obras con más tiempo y las que son más reciente, como una especie de "enlace".

Lo bueno del museo, es que, como no hay tanta concurrencia de personas, puedes recibir un recorrido guiado de parte de alguno de los encargados. La vez anterior, yo recibí esta guía con la exposición que había en ese momento, pero en esta, el chico ya se encontraba ocupado con un grupo, así que decidí contemplar la exposición por mi cuenta. Primero, porque me daba pena meterme en un grupo que no me pertenece y segundo, porque como contaba con poco tiempo, no sabía si podía recibir la guía y luego, ponerme a ver las piezas en solitario.

De esa forma, mientras el grupo recibía toda la información, yo simplemente me detenía en cada obra, leía la descripción y luego, la admiraba, viendo qué clases de sensaciones y pensamientos aparecían, así como apreciando el material utilizado. Esto último es algo que me gusta mucho. Creo que por eso, me llaman más la atención las obras que son realizadas con "técnicas mixtas".

A la hora de fotografiar las piezas, tuve un par de inconvenientes. Entre ellos, aquellas obras que están protegidas por vidrio. Es algo comprensible que siempre me ocurre, pues el reflejo siempre "rebota" y tengo que hacer maromas para poder capturar la imagen, por eso, algunas fotografías pueden verse "torcidas", pero eso fue porque traté de hallar el mejor ángulo para que el reflejo, fuese menor. También, hay algunas obras que las cuelgan en lugares muy altos y donde no puedes acercarte... No es que quiera tocar los cuadros jaja pero me gusta acercarme lo suficiente para apreciar los relieves y eso, se me hace imposible en esos casos jaja.

Siempre es grato encontrarme con exposiciones en ese museo, porque como he mencionado en post pasados, el lugar estuvo por años cerrado y en la actualidad, busca consolidarse como un espacio abierto al público. Por lo que deseo de todo corazón que pueda volverse uno de los centros de reunión y visita más populares de los ciudadanos, motivando así también a los estudiantes de la universidad de Humanidades y Artes, la cual, se encuentra a sólo unas cuadras del museo.
