Hello everyone!
Back in March, while I was still in Thailand, my son and I decided to try something a little different — night photography. Sounds simple, right? Well… not quite.
Night shooting has its own personality. It’s unpredictable, tricky, and at times a bit frustrating. Before heading out, I spent some time reading guides, trying to understand the basics — shutter speed, ISO, how to deal with artificial light. Theory is one thing, but practice? That’s where things get interesting.
And so, armed with a camera and curiosity, we stepped into the night.

The first thing that caught my eye was a quiet, almost deserted road. Nothing special at first glance — but then the lights.
Street lamps lined the road, glowing in different colors, almost like someone decided to turn an ordinary street into a light experiment. It had that slightly surreal vibe, like a scene from a movie where something is about to happen… but never does.
I stopped there for a while.
Took around 20 shots, adjusting settings again and again. Too dark. Too bright. Wrong focus. Strange shadows. But somewhere in between all those attempts, one frame stood out.
Not perfect, not professional — but honestly? I liked it. Sometimes it’s not about technical perfection. It’s about the feeling you capture.

Right next to that road was a night market. And if you’ve ever been to one in Thailand, you know — it’s impossible to just walk past.
My son definitely knew that 😄
He immediately started convincing me that we had to go in. According to him, there were “perfect spots for photos.” I had my doubts… but let’s be honest, I didn’t stand a chance.
And I’m glad I didn’t resist.
The place was full of simple развлечения — small rides, games, lights everywhere. Nothing fancy, but full of life.

One attraction caught his attention instantly — an air rifle shooting game.
Now, here’s the thing. He’s good at it. Like… suspiciously good.
Shot after shot — target down.
Prize after prize — collected.
At some point, I started noticing the looks from the stall owners. You know that look… polite smile on the outside, quiet panic on the inside 😅
I swear, for a moment it felt like we were single-handedly destroying their business model.

We ended up trying almost every attraction there.
My son was completely absorbed in the moment — laughter, excitement, that pure kind of joy you can’t fake.
And me?
I was somewhere in between being a father and a photographer. Watching, participating, and at the same time trying to capture fragments of it all through the lens.
Not every shot worked. Actually, most didn’t.
The photos aren’t as bright or polished as the ones I usually share. Night changes everything — colors behave differently, shadows take over, details get lost.
But here’s the thing…
These images carry something else.
They hold the atmosphere of that night. The quiet road. The glowing lights. The laughter between games. The small victories at the shooting stand.
And most importantly — they hold a memory.
A simple evening, just the two of us, walking, exploring, and accidentally creating something worth remembering.
Sometimes photography isn’t about getting the perfect shot.
It’s about not forgetting how it felt to be there.

Thailand is a very beautiful country, even more than I thought. All the photos are very good, especially this child's smile.
The pictures of your son holding the drink is such a beauty. Why is he wearing the helmet even when not riding a bike?
This is his new helmet. He's afraid it will be stolen if he leaves it on his bike. So he wears it everywhere and says it's comfortable 🤣
