As the weather changes I feel more at peace, more content. More relaxed and also more motivated. I want to be outside more and feeling that fresh, cooler air. This has also made me want to photograph things more like I used to. I'm no longer battling the heat and panic attacks that kept me indoors; those are something I haven't really mentioned in my posts as I didn't really want to talk about it. It kept me quite idle though, and I was really loving shooting film at the time (I'm always that way, actually. I always want to shoot film). But as the weather changes and my film supply dwindles, I'm halfway between wanting to shoot film and switching to digital a bit more. Mostly because the lower light makes film photography a bit harder. 200 ASA just doesn't quite cut it.

There's also the mist filer that I've missed on the digital camera. Film can replicate it a bit, so that makes switching back to digital a bit more fun. I'm also waiting impatiently for an online store here to lower their prices of the Sony A7 V to buy that and FINALLY upgrade the digital. This is something I've really excited about, but I'm being a bit smarter with finances these days and not just throwing cash at expensive things. Focusing more on growth and stability rather than urges. We're in a pretty rough time economically and that's for sure. Nothing is that easy at the moment so if you have savings, it's best to cling to them and allow them to grow into something more. Fortunately I do have plenty of cameras. I shouldn't be getting too obsessive over the more modern technicalities of the Sony A7 V. My trusty Canon AE-1 works just fine, after all.

These were taken on the Sony A6000 though. With the mist filter and at the crop sensor focal length of 35mm. It's always weird going back to it after shooting film given film is that full 35mm frame. My love for the 28mm lens I have for the Canon being stronger than ever. And that 35mm focal length on crop sensor feeling more restrictive. But I'm trying not to think of restrictions for now. Instead, just having fun and getting back into living as the weather changes. As that season brings things anew. I'd love to remain shooting film, but I'll need to stock up on some overpriced slow speed film stocks at 400 ASA and above. Until then, back to digital!
I thought it's just me, but it seems I'm not alone with it. I've been super productive for the last two months, since the weather cooled down and it feels like I'm a new person. Although I have AC, it is still a different life when it's 37 - 39C outside.
I'm glad you're feeling more motivated. Keep posting these photos as you're doing a great job!
I can't begin to describe how nice it feels to inhale and feel cold air. The 16% humidity of this desert landscape and like you, 40c outside, it's just brutal. Around June I got heatstroke from the early summer and it caused this weird panic disorder to kick in (likely also due to a stupid amount of stress from bad news over the year) where I felt like I could never breathe outside or tolerate the heat. Fortunately it's passing now but that really set me back for a while! I would also cling to the AC here.
Thanks erikah, I'm actually really happy to be coming out of it and just generally in better shape regarding everything. It was so hard for me to even think of doing photography before, but I knew I was getting better when instead of feeling anxious, I started to dream of running around with a camera again ;^)
I'm really sorry to hear your struggle. Mine wasn't as bad, but I see now how easy is to do things and how productive, motivated and happier I am. It's like I am a totally different person.
I hope you can make the most of this weather and find your balance again as it's crucial for health and happiness. I'm here if you'd like to talk :)
Im the same way, Im not a extreme cold weather lover but the heat and humidity in Panama kills me, makes me not want to go out and stay cool in the AC, the heat makes me a bit desperate too as you start to sweat and your tshirt feels bit heavy, it just sux all around, I was once about to move to Medellin but at the end my wife didnt wanted to, so I stay in hell 🤣
