I haven't done a doors post in a long time now. With me not traveling as much as I used to, it takes a lot longer to collect enough photos of doors to make a decent post out of them. There just aren't a lot of unique and interesting doors where I live, I guess. But now I've collected quite a few of them and so I'm ready to share them with you. Let's take a look, shall we!

The first door that I have to show you (above) was spotted in Ontario Canada. What I liked about it was the asymmetry of the doors with the windows and the Romeo and Julliet door and balcony. Its hard to invision the layout of the home(s) behind the walls. I think that its two apartments there. I also like the black color of the doors against the red brick. I think the black really works in this case.

The next door was seen in the Azores. Its from an apartment in the city of Ponta Delgada. The apartment was near the main downtown area on a street with a lot of renovations happening. This one was quite obviously run down to the point of nature taking it back. I like the look of grungy run down buildings and doors as you may know from previous posts of mine.

The next door is similar as the one above but it was seen in the Carribean, I believe in the city of Curacao. It was on the wall of a industrial or commercial building. It wasn't a part of a residence. I liked the bars and the graffiti and the random hose snaking its way through the bars. Its like visual poetry.

This next one was also seen in the Carribean, likely the same city. I think it demonstrates that doors can have their own character and personality. This one feels very "proper" to me, like an acappella singer lives here, or someone who dresses up fancy and goes to the Kentucky derby, or maybe someone who hosts tea in their garden vernda. I'm also getting a nautical sailor vibe to it. Do you see any of that as well?

This next one is just very bold. The blue is just so... bold. It practically absorbs the light. I can't think of any other words to describe this one other than bold. Its bold. Okay I'm done saying bold.

This next one is from the Azores on the Island of Faial in the city of Horta. Its another run down look. This is probably my least favorite of the lot. Its a little boring I will admit.

This next one is similar to the one above but I feel like it has more character. This one is not boring to me. I like it quite a bit. Its a nice turquoise color. It has the crown window on top and the rotted out wooden step below. Its a great run down door overall. This is another from Ponta Delgada.

Next is the same sort of door but in a red color. Same vibe because it was seen in the same city (Ponta Delgada) on the same street as the others. This one has the extra bonus features of exposed wires and tubing. More character in my opinion.

Again, same place and street and same sort of vibe. More wires, which I'm loving for the photos. All of these homes were being renovated. You could tell that this street and neighborhood was very "up and coming." It was close to downtown, just a short walk. I don't know if these are personal homes or investments being sold to foreigners or being turned into airbnbs.

Okay now I'm pivoting back to the Carribean with this green door on a yellow wall. Very colorful and great contrast.

This next one is also from the Carribean and its one of my favorites. Its got a great color scheme and I really like the contrast between the grainy plain wooden door and the smooth colorful walls. It just works in my opinion. I also like the asymmetry of it as well. Note the random stick and leaf branch placed in front. It doesn't look random to me. It makes me wonder if that's some sort of superstition or custom? Of course, it could also just be that it fell from a tree or the back of a passing truck or something lol. Maybe I'm reading into it a little too much?

Okay, the last door is from the Azores again from a town outside of Ponta Delgada. Its got a monochrome look about it with a few random pops of color. Its both symmetrical (with the placement of the two doors and asymmetrical with the Portuguese painted tile mural. It also has rope holding up the wiring preventing it from falling below the door, which gives it some added interest. So much character all around.

I love them all!
That blue door is definitely a colour and a vibe you don't see often! I love the black door. We had one in our old flat, a big imposing thing. Now I have those shitty white uPVC things.
Yeah doors seem to be shit now days. The quality I mean. The back dooor is cool. I would love a cool mid century modern door. Fromt entrance doors are figgin expensive nowadays though. I know people that replaced their doors ( and they look like a standard two door entrance, and it cost them like $20 thousand CAD... insane
