It happened quite a few winters ago. I took a walk to the bay here in my hometown. Throughout the day, the weather was changing, from sunny to heavy rain, then sunny again, and so on. It was late in the afternoon when I reached the peninsula called Vizula, close to the harbor. The sky was mostly blue with beautiful white clouds concentrated along the eastern horizon, and all kinds of scattered clouds displayed on the southern half of the celestial dome. It was a good day for photography, so I took a few shots that I'll show you right now in this post.
Here you can see the harbor and the clouds low along the horizon. The biggest boats in the picture are professional fishing boats. Some of them are equipped with purse seines for sardines; others have bottom trawls for various fish at the sandy or muddy bottom of the sea. The following photograph...
...shows some houses and stuff very close to the harbor. I was standing in the littoral vegetation on the other side of the shallow, brackish inlet. The following photograph may look identical to this one at first sight, but...
...but if you carefully compare all the details, you'll notice that the surface of the sea is quite different. The rain has started, creating a multitude of litlle dots on the water. After that short rain, just about ten minutes or so...
...the rainbow appeared above the scenery, making everything look more majestic than usual.
I mean, it was a double rainbow, actually. A rainbow with a bonus, you can say.
Here you can see the fluffy, angelic clouds above my hometown. The buildings are very small in the picture, but you can easily recognize the church that dominates the townscape. The following photograph...
...shows the clouds on the other half of the sky and a bit of the coastal scenery under those lovely clouds.
This is another stretch of the harbor. You can see two boats on the buoys. The sky looks more dramatic here than in the previous shots.
The bay of Medulin, my hometown, is quite photogenic becouse it has many islets, inlets, and peninsulas.
This is another view of the town and its two-towered church. I mean, the distant town is barely visible, but it is there, right under the clouds spread along the horizon.
I zoomed in a bit more here, so the town is a bit more prominent in the picture. In the following photograph..
...I zoomed in even more. I probably zoomed in as much as I could.
And that's it. As always here on Hive, the photographs are my work.
Topnotch shots. The first five photos remind me of the Renaissance era.
Yes, good observation. That's the type of clouds you can see in many paintings of that era.
Oh yeah!

What a beautiful and scenic port! You can really see the autumn vibes in these photos. Thanks for sharing them.
Great shots you picked up there! You even had some nice reflections before the rain disturbed the water's surface. Great find on the double rainbow, those are always fun to see. That church really does dominate the city, but I guess back in medieval times it was really the most important building in any city in Europe as the Catholic church was so powerful at the time.
You caught some nice cloud shots in there too. Nature can provide great entertainment can't it? Glad you got out to enjoy the day!
This is nature in it's natural beauty, what a scenic view, yea the weather be messing around these days but nothing one can't handle.
