Hello guys! This is a historical building in Iran. It was the home of Mirza Aqa Khan Nuri (Prime Minister), which most Iranians do not like. He was the Prime Minister of Iran during the 1850s. So grab your tea or coffee!

To give you some background info, this building was built in the 19 th Century during the Qajar era. The King was a young boy called Naser al-Din Shah. The first Prime Minister was a very clever man called Amir Kabir. He was arguably the greatest Grand Vizier Iran’s government ever had. He put the economy in order, improved the army and built the first modern college in Iran! However, the royal court did not like him and tried to get rid of him.

Nuri became Prime Minister after Amir Kabir. Many historians say that he conspired with the Shah’s mother and other members of court, to make the young Shah turn against Amir Kabir. Amir Kabir was sacked and then was killed in a bathhouse in the historic city of Kashan in 1852. He was ordered to do this by the Shah. Nuri took over as Prime Minister immediately. Can you now see why people
really don’t like him?

After becoming in charge, reforms came to a standstill. He gave jobs to his family and friends, and corruption became common place. Then came the big disaster. Iran sent their army towards Herat. However, Britain said no! The British army took over Bushehr in the south. Iran had to give up their claim to Herat in the Treaty of Paris in 1857. This was heartbreaking.
He was sacked in 1858 and died in 1865.
Despite the damage he caused to Iran, he had an amazing house! The mirror work is beautiful and everyone is amazed when they walk in. The glazed tiles are also beautiful. The artwork is one of a kind. There is also an amazin
g turquoise pond which makes you feel relaxed for hours. If you ever visit Iran you must go here! There is also a café/restaurant in the courtyard where you can get tea and some delicious Iranian food.

P.S. English is not my first language so sorry if there are any mistakes!
