Riding a Kalesa and Lesson Learned!!

Hello again, Hive Family! I am back to share another adventure from my time in the area around Intramuros. You might remember my last post about Luneta Park, but this time, I have a story with a bit of a surprise ending!

But let's go through the different stations of my video in the correct order:

Manila Bay

In the first part of the video you can watch me at Manila Bay. I was pleased to see that this beach is much cleaner than it was several years ago. I would wish to see Manila as a whole to be that clean and more people taking care of their own environment.

Park

While I was jogging early in the morning, I had a nice view of the beautiful park.

Kalesa Riding

Later I decided to try a ride in a kalesa (a traditional horse-drawn carriage). The driver simply said, "Just enjoy and see around," so I hopped in without asking the price upfront—big mistake! The view, however, was absolutely stunning. We passed impressive, old churches, some said to be around 600 years old, and they were breathtakingly beautiful.

The surprise came at the end: the ride cost ₱4,300! The kalesa took us on a very long route through heavy traffic, which took a lot of time. While the price was a shock, the experience of seeing the historic sights up close was unique. Ultimately, it was a memorable (if expensive) lesson learned!

Light Play

Let's end with the impressive "Dancing Fountain Show" in Rizal Park. I loved watching these color-changing lights! Just enjoy!

These last pics show me making an evening walk through the park, back to the hotel.

Wow, you indeed had a happy and amazing gala time in Manila! You were able to see the dolomite beach. 😁 But what surprised me is the price of your kalesa ride. I can buy 2 pieces of Levi's Jeans na with that. 🤣

Yes, next time I really must be more careful, this was extremely expensive.

HIVE is really getting 'better' and 'better' - no wonder there come (and stay) no new users if contributions like this earn 0.59 dollars, while other low effort posters get automated daily rewards of 10 dollars and more from diverse whale 'curators'. But I know, you keep writing to save some nice memories on a blockchain at least...

Thank you a lot for your permanent support, and don't worry: as you wrote, at least it's a place for saving some beautiful memories and moments.

It's nice that you always see things optimistically!

Personally, I can't believe in a good future for a platform where some 'curator' whales reward the same users automatically on a daily basis while the majority are ignored, or for a would-be YouTube competitor like @threespeak, which doesn't seem to care about videos from 'normal' users like this one.

But my advice is: stay away from Hive politics, just keep posting and enjoy the process.

The Philippines is soo corrupt, because many of the public officials are psychopaths. Here you can read the historical background: [Philippine corruption] Fighting from a Distance How Filipino Exiles Helped Topple a Dictator 1/70
