Come with me as I live blog my trip to the Beermondsay Beer Mile. I'm in London for work for the week (coming from Australia) and this is a the Sunday before I start working.....
Going into this I’ve walked close enough to 30,000 steps today, but it’s Sunday evening and I have to work tomorrow which is why I’m in London so this could be my last chance....
That chance is to do the Beermondsay beer mile which is a collection of bars and breweries tucked under a train line, so more walking will be required
Slight non live detour- To give you sense of what it looks like, this is the rail line above there and in the vaults are the bars.....

back to the story

Getting off at London Bridge Station you follow the line until my first stop - the Barrel Project and my first brew Sour no 10 from Howling Hops a raspberry apricot and lemon sour and it does exactly what it should - be super refreshing. Unfortunately the people next to me are having a pretentious conversation around morality which is painful.

And then I stumble into a beer hall I hadn’t heard of - Fabal which is about 4 businesses up from Barrel Project, and I stick with Howling Hops, this time their West Coast IPA which is fairly gentle but also fairly refreshing.

Then it’s off to Anspach & Hobday and another sour a strawberry ripple sundae sour from Yonder which is another great little beer, but here there is an obnoxious twat talking (loudly) about literary theory, which according to him has not changed since the Romans and I realise there might be something wrong with English craft beer drinkers. Massive wankers, or maybe I don't normally notice as I'm not generally drinking by myself.

From there it’s off to a brewery I know fairly well as we get a bit of them in Australia, it’s Cloudwater and my first paddle of the day with three brews a DIPA called version 20 which is everything a DIPA should be. There are now Australians next to me and of course they are discussing negative gearing on Property, because Australians am I right? Maybe it's not just English people who annoy me. The next beer is Words of Wisdom which negative gearing guy has none of, and it’s a surprisingly gentle fruited sour given its 9% alcohol, it’s a sour on the sweeter side. We are ending (here) with an imperial stout called Mayan continuous Improvement and for 11% (which might be a mistake at this point) it’s ridiculously smooth and drinkable.

So we tried to go to Bianca road but they have stopped serving (everyone not just me) some would think this should be a sign to go home and I set off towards the station, but in the Beermondsey beer mile there is always another bar so I we are at Craft Beer Junction. and it’s back to the sours with Enchanted Tiki Room from Hidden Spring which very good pine ale pastry sour, a perfect way to end what is a legitimately very cool beer experience, can recommend if you find yourself in London, but set asside some time. I went to only about half of the bars, as many of them at closed on Sunday.
Then it's a quick walk to the next station on the train line - Bermondsey and back to the hotel for a sleep before getting up for work the next day ...

A nice looking mix here man. You earned those after your 30,000 steps!
