Having relocated away from Yogyakarta, I’ve managed to keep my connection and network in this city.
Both Magelang and Yogyakarta have quietly become my second home these days. Yet this particular visit felt a little special because I got to meet my students offline.

My journey started from Madiun, where the branch office is located. From there, I took the train ride and eventually reached Yogyakarta around 1 PM. We were planning to have a meet up in the Kota Baru area in a cafe called Bura-Bura.
Kota Baru is the trendiest area in Yogyakarta offering cafes that cater to Gen Z and Gen Alpha. It has a certain charm and aesthetic to it. When I was there, I ordered their Mont Blanc Coffee, the latest craze in the Indonesian coffee scene.
Mont blanc is basically a combination of cold brew with a foam on top and typically flavored. It’s quite a refreshing drink that you can in most cafe these days.

After that, the group and I were checking out the photobooth inside the cafe. These days, many cafes offer this service and is a highlight of a trendiest cafe in town. I had fun taking pictures with them until it was time for me to meet my mother’s staff.

I was due to pick up my sister and her husband from the train station. After picking them up, in such a hectic situation, I was then taking them to a famous coffee shop in Yogyakarta called Space Roastery.

Since it was already late, we didn’t stay long and just did a quick coffee trip. The journey was still quite long because we had to check-in into a hotel and then we had a packed schedule the following morning.

At the time, my sister and I surveyed our land, the plot that will be a small house and villa. My husband sister is an architect, so its why we took him around to check out the land so he could design the house for me. Then, we also went to a local dessert shop that we found on our way from the house.
The trip ended when I took my sister for a last stroll around Malioboro. I was really starving that I ended up buying this frozen burger from Circle-K. It was good and filling until the next day, I have to travel back and funnily enough, the following week, I was back to Yogyakarta and then, Jakarta & do it all over again.
