Brasilia. El Alma Ancestral y La Modernidad. [Esp/Eng]

Estoy emocionado de compartir con ustedes mi reciente visita a Brasilia. Viajar para cumplir sueños y desafíos es una experiencia que nutre mi fuero interno; a veces, las palabras se quedan cortas para describir la satisfacción de caminar por esta ciudad. Siento que cada respiración me conecta con la realidad de estar, finalmente, con los pies en esta tierra brasileira que tanto tiempo habitó en mis pensamientos.

I am thrilled to share with you my recent visit to Brasília. Travelling to fulfil dreams and take on challenges is an experience that nourishes my inner self; sometimes, words simply fail to capture the satisfaction of walking through this city. I feel that every breath connects me with the reality of finally standing on this Brazilian soil that has occupied my thoughts for so long.

Aprovecho la mañana para visitar el Eje Monumental. Es fascinante estar frente a obras de un prestigio cultural tan fabuloso. Durante mi recorrido, me detuve especialmente en el Memorial de los Pueblos Indígenas (MPI). Este espacio, diseñado por el arquitecto Oscar Niemeyer en 1987 e impulsado por el antropólogo Darcy Ribeiro, fue concebido para preservar y difundir la riqueza patrimonial de las naciones originarias de Brasil.

I make the most of the morning to visit the Monumental Axis. It is fascinating to stand before works of such fabulous cultural prestige. During my tour, I made a special stop at the Memorial of the Indigenous Peoples (MPI). This space, designed by the architect Oscar Niemeyer in 1987 and championed by the anthropologist Darcy Ribeiro, was conceived to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Brazil’s indigenous nations.

Su estructura circular y en espiral se inspira en la maloca redonda de los indígenas Yanomami. Al cruzar la rampa de acceso —que te hace sentir como si entraras en una nave espacial— me encontré con un gran patio interno de tierra batida. El ambiente permite un contacto tangible con el suelo, evocando los rituales y danzas tradicionales que allí se celebran. El edificio cuenta además con una concha de concreto que evoca un tocado indígena (cocar), funcionando ingeniosamente como protección solar. Estoy navegando en las profundidades de un templo que desde este confín me conecta con toda la energía del universo.

Its circular, spiral structure is inspired by the round maloca of the Yanomami indigenous people. As I crossed the access ramp—which makes you feel as though you’re stepping into a spaceship—I found myself in a large inner courtyard of compacted earth. The setting allows for a tangible connection with the ground, evoking the traditional rituals and dances held there. The building also features a concrete shell that resembles an indigenous headdress (cocar), ingeniously serving as sun protection. I am navigating the depths of a temple that, from this remote corner, connects me with all the energy of the universe.

Exposiciones y Colecciones
El memorial resguarda una de las colecciones más importantes del país. Pude apreciar la exposición permanente "Mais de 12 mil anos nesta terra", que presenta cientos de artefactos: arte plumario, cerámicas, cestería y máscaras rituales cargadas de historia.

Exhibitions and Collections
The memorial houses one of the country’s most important collections. I was able to view the permanent exhibition “Mais de 12 mil anos nesta terra”, which features hundreds of artefacts: feather art, ceramics, basketry and ritual masks steeped in history.

Uno de los puntos más interesantes es el Sector Táctil, un área interactiva donde se pueden tocar objetos como maracas, ofreciendo una experiencia sensorial única. También disfruté de muestras temporales como "Bancos Indígenas do Brasil", donde destaca la talla en madera de etnias como los Mehinaku, además de vestimentas y tejidos impresionantes.

One of the most interesting features is the Tactile Sector, an interactive area where you can touch objects such as maracas, offering a unique sensory experience. I also enjoyed temporary exhibitions such as “Indigenous Peoples of Brazil”, which highlights wood carvings from ethnic groups such as the Mehinaku, as well as impressive clothing and textiles.

Al recorrer esta sala, reflexioné sobre la identidad brasileña y la resistencia cultural de sus pueblos originarios. La riqueza indígena suramericana ofrece una perspectiva distinta a la visión monumental de Niemeyer y Ribeiro; es un contraste necesario y profundo.

As I walked through this room, I reflected on Brazilian identity and the cultural resilience of its indigenous peoples. South America’s indigenous heritage offers a perspective that differs from the monumental vision of Niemeyer and Ribeiro; it is a necessary and profound contrast.

Al salir, regresé la vista a las formas blancas y curvas de los edificios vecinos, como el Museo Nacional. Por un momento, lo vi como una taza inmensa dispuesta a recoger la lluvia. Es un placer relajante viajar y dejarse llevar por el vuelo de esta "nave espacial" que es la cultura brasileña.

On leaving, I turned my gaze back to the white, curved forms of the neighbouring buildings, such as the National Museum. For a moment, I saw it as a huge cup ready to catch the rain. It is a relaxing pleasure to travel and let oneself be carried away by the flight of this “spaceship” that is Brazilian culture.
