Beautiful days in Paraíba

Today I'm going to show you a bit of the trip I took to Paraíba, one of the states in the Northeast of Brazil with beautiful turquoise water beaches, lots of traditional parties (it's in the city of Campina Grande that the biggest June Festival in Brazil takes place). Many great Brazilian artists come from there, like Elba Ramalho, Zé Ramalho, Ariano Suassuna, Jackson do Pandeiro, Sivuca, Chico César, and Herbert Vianna.
I arrived in João Pessoa, the capital, where these first photos were taken. It's a city right on the beach with a lively beachfront. The crime and robbery rates in JP are quite low, unlike other Brazilian capitals, and the beachfront lifestyle, with plenty of beaches, kiosks, and outdoor activities, benefits those who want to raise kids and age with a better quality of life. I stayed there for about two or three days. I rented a small but functional room with a TV, bathroom, and a small kitchen in a little hotel in front of the beach that had this beautiful rooftop.
On my last night, I went to a free party at Viva Usina, a huge public space with a historic building that hosts various fairs, parties, concerts, and exhibitions. There was a beautiful Cavalo Marinho performance, a cultural manifestation that mixes theater, dance, and music and is connected to the daily lives of rural workers. There was also a performance by several maracatu groups, another manifestation of Brazilian folklore that blends African, Portuguese, and Indigenous cultures, involving dance and music.
Two days later, I headed to Jabaquara Beach, which is an hour from the city. There are no buildings there; it's a completely different scene, and right by the beach I was able to see these little monkeys, eat lots of fried fish and sururu stew—a very tasty mollusk typical of the northeastern states of Brazil. There’s also a lot of coconut there, and you can drink coconut water all day, enjoy the sun and relax, draw, meditate, be quiet, read, and work out, which is basically what I did during the three days I was there. I stayed at a campsite that was empty, it was just me, but I slept in this room on the top of a container. I really recommend checking out the area!

Hoje eu vou mostrar para vocês um pouco da viagem que eu fiz para a Paraíba, um dos estados do Nordeste do Brasil com praias lindas com água turquesa, muitas festas típicas (é lá, na cidade de Campina Grande, a maior Festa Junina do Brasil). São de lá grandes artistas brasileiros como Elba Ramalho, Zé Ramalho, Ariano Suassuna, Jackson do Pandeiro, Sivuca, Chico César e Herbert Vianna.
Eu cheguei por João Pessoa, a capital, onde são essas primeiras fotos, que é uma cidade na beira da praia, tem bastante vida de orla. Os índices de violência e assaltos em JP é bem baixo, ao contrário de outras capitais brasileiras, e a vida de orla, com muita oferta de praias, quiosques e atividades ao ar livre favorecem quem quer criar filhos e envelhecer com mais qualidade de vida. Fiquei uns dois, três dias lá. Aluguei um quarto bem pequeno e funcional, com TV, banheiro e uma pequena cozinha num hotelzinho de frente pra praia que tinha essa cobertura linda. Dei sorte e peguei uma noite de lua cheia, quando fiz estas fotos.
Na minha última noite, fui a uma festa gratuita na Viva Usina, um espaço público enorme com um prédio histórico que sedia diversas feiras, festas, shows e exposições. Teve uma apresentação linda de Cavalo Marinho, uma manifestação cultural que mistura teatro, dança e música e está ligada ao cotidiano de trabalhadores da zona rural .Também aconteceu uma apresentação de vários grupos de maracatu, outra manifestação do folclore brasileiro que mistura as culturas africana, portuguesa e indígena, envolve dança e música.
Dois dias depois, segui para a Praia de Jabaquara que fica a uma hora da cidade. Lá não tem prédios, já é uma outra situação e na beira da praia eu pude encontrar esses macaquinhos, comer muito peixe frito e caldinho de sururu - um molusco muito saboroso típico dos estados do Nordeste do Brasil. Lá também tem muito coco e dá para tomar água de coco o dia todo, curtir o sol e descansar, desenhar, meditar, ficar em silêncio, ler e treinar, que foi o que eu fiz basicamente nos três dias em que estive lá. Me hospedei num camping que estava vazio, só tinha eu, mas dormi neste quarto na parte de cima deste container. Recomendo muito conhecer a região!
