The city of Cartagena was the last of the larger cities I visited in November last year. This city, located by the Caribbean Sea. This is a charming city with lots of well preserved colonial architecture The historic center is located within the walled city. Most of the urban art in Cartagena is found in Getsemani. This is a neighborhoods close to the historical center, which means you are in walking distance if you live in the historical quarter (which I did). Getsemami was once known as a low income area, but it has transformed into a pleasant place with hotels, restaurants, cafes and a lively nightlife.

Some of the work I passed on my way to the center of Getsemani. Some of the murals are simple, but the area does have works done by several well-known artists like Fin DAC.

This piece is done by artist DEXS. The others shows how Cartagena is connected to the Caribbean. You do get that Caribbean feeling here. Ofcource, it is located by the city.

These beautiful work is found along the Avenida del Pedregal. I was sitting on the upper level of the hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus. But because it stopped several times, due to trafic, I got the chance to take the photos.

Gorgeous portrait painted by an artis called Manuel Gonzales.

A little further along we pass this mural painted by Fin DAC who is an Irish artist, born in Ireland, but moved later to London. His given name was Finbarr Notte. His interest in art startet at an early age and he is known for his paintings of Euroasian women.

These two are the only pieces of street art I found in the inner historical city. Even I did walk almost all around the historical city, which is quite small, I didn't come across any.
Getsemani actually held its first International Festival of Urban Art – Ciudd Mural in 2013. International artists came to Cartagena to work together with the community to beautify many of the deteriorated walls. Now this is the best area to wander around to admire the murals.
