STREET ART #238 – Quito, the capital in Ecuador

The capital of Ecuador has so many preserved colonial buildings that it kept me busy for a couple of days. I was staying close to the historical center. At first I didn't notice any street art while walking around. Very close to my hotel there is a street called La Ronda. A street that has been totallay restored. It is a narrow pedestran cobblestone street. This is where I went to eat dinner a couple of times. The restored 17th- century buildings are now housing shops, bars and restaurants. Luckily I went on the «back side» I this is where I discovered the city does have street art.

Trade and Traditions

This colorful mural is painted by an artist named Christian Tapia. I found out that this mural has an emphasis trading. When studying the mural you will see the making of traditional sweets, herb makers etc. There is also a fortune teller.... I don't know whether that is common on markets.

This mural is painted on a long wall at the end of La Ronda close to the previous mural. Christian Tapia is the also the artist of this piece. A colorful mural with lots of details and the same style as the previous. Mural | Christian Tapia Arte | Quito

I have not seen any other than these two works made by Tapia. But after googling and finding his work on Instagram etc. I see that he has his own style. His drawings have a completely personal style. Drawing is also the basis for what he creates. After what I have manage to find out about him and the photoes I have seen of his work, I wish to see more....
