Peguche is a small Andean town near Otavalo, which is famous because of its craft markets. The area is known for it traditions of weaving and texlile. So Peguche is no exception. On the way to a weavers shop, I passed this gorgeous mural. This small town is located in the Andean range not far from Otavalo.

This mural is huge. I had to divide it into sections to be able to show enough details. The theme in this piece of work reflects this small traditional weaving town in the Andes, musical instruments, nature an local culture.

It is the women who spin and dye the wool, while it is the men who sit at the loom.

The Ecudorian artist behind this gorgeous piece of work is Tenaz. His real name is Γlvaro CΓ³rdova. He is a known artist throughout South America. His work is often a colorful blend of indigenous themes and social themes. Often his work will show that his inpriration comes from his heritage.

The vibrant color and detailed portraits of characters is features that characterizes his work. Another common feature in his work, is the social messages about his country and the idendity of Ecuador.

Beautiful and huge. Probably not easy to create but well done.
It is a large mural, full of artistry, and each fragment is worth highlighting in detail. The section with the birds is beautiful. It is very well preserved. Best regards.
Totally agree. It was worth stopping the car and get out to look at itπ

So beautiful wall with the traditions of this region. I really like the simpler design with the village, just below the city name. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.
Have a great day
