Yackandandah Gorge Walk, Victoria, Australia.
Yackandandah is only a little place but like any small Victorian Country Town it still has two pubs and two Sporting fields. It actually did not exist at all until there was a gold rush in the 1850s and it sort of sprung up overnight out of nowhere. It is at the back of the Victorian High Country not too far to the New South Wales Boarder. The Gorge on Yackandandah Creek was actually made by the early settlers who diverted the water for their gold diggings. Even though it is only a small Gorge it must have been a big job.
The old Past Office, the whole main street is actually heritage listed, if it was not for the cars, you would expect a horse and cart to pass by.
One of those sporting fields, this one was the cricket pitch.
The Gorge walk also links up to a much bigger rail trail and mountain bike area.
Unfortunately for us it was the back end of summer they had not had rain for months, and the water level was very low.
At one point the gold diggers even had a little dam. The walk was runnable, so we got a few extra easy miles in with a few photo stops.
So narrow but I recon I could have squeed through if I was not on a run.
The gorge is more of a diversion sluice.
We got to meet some of the locals, this was probably the best echidna photo I have ever got.

So many towns I pass through but never explore! And there's actually some quite cool things about them. I've obviously been in enough that i recognise a mining sluice before I'm told it was one - lol. Naaawww - love an echidna. They're so lovely. I wonder if this is the first #yackadandah hashtag on Hive!
The house there it was pretty cool too, a new place with all the modern cons, nicely hidden in some Aussie bush.
These are the beautiful places to explorer. You are so lucky having such a beautiful natural resources around you. I have heard that the quills of porcupine are very dangerous.
