Twelve Apostles, The Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia.
Probably one of my top ten tourist attractions in the whole of Australia.Β Maybe it is of all my childhood memories of driving down here when we were on holidays, but it definitely feels special, driving along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. A real treat, especially on a nice day with the sun out and not too much wind about. We stayed atΒ Warrnambool the night before and only had to drive to Appollo Bay about 150kms away but there were so many great places to stop along the way it took us all day. I should have planned it a bit better; I thought I knew what I was doing. It should have been all too easy just follow some very well marked and signed posted attractions. The problem was there is so much, you really need to manage your time and pick the ones you think you might enjoy the best. We could have easily spent more time wandering around and enjoying the views and chatting with other tourists from all over the world!
It would have been a great day for a helicopter ride too
The whole car parking and under bridge walkway was not here last time I was here.
The breath-taking view was pretty much the same.
This was a photo from last time I was there; it was probably in the 80s. It is interesting to compare and see the erosion. I think I was standing much closer on a different part of the cliff face because I never had any sort of zoom lense camera way back then.
This concrete over hanging lookout was new too. I really wonder if it was really necessary. The view was fantastic without it, maybe the environment just needed protection from the sheer volume of foot traffic.
One thing is my phone camera is definitely better than the old camera I used to travel around with.
