The Goods Line, Ultimo, New South Wales, Australia.

You do not get much for 15 million dollars Aud nowadays! 800 meters of concrete walkway? What is that about $10,000 dollars a step. All jokes a side the goods line walkway is probably a very good use of public money. Turning an old disused train line into a public space. I got to walk along one in New York City back in 2018 and thought it was great walking and sightseeing above the street line with a nice view not having to worry about all the traffic below. I was definitely looking forward to checking this one out in Sydney on our recent holiday. The Australian version of the New York Skyline is nowhere near as long or as high, but it was still a great way to walk or hire a bike and get from Central station to Darking harbour with a lot less hassle than all the sidewalk and traffic lights.

The paper bag building built using 320,000 custom-designed bricks, I bet that was not cheap either.

The old signal box, interlocking switch was an important job back in its day. Funny how things have moved so quickly.

I can just imagine this busy rail system moving goods from the waterfront to the main railway system and beyond. The last official train was in 1984.

The ”A Life” Sandstone Sculpture. There was a lot of stone quarried around here to build lots of Sydney maybe this now represents all the high rise building now being built next to the old good line.
