Sydney Harbour Bridge, New South Wales, Australia.

The big coat hanger is not on the UNESCO world heritage list like its nearby well recognized landmark friend the Opera House. I don’t know why, to me it is just as impressive, but I suppose the opera house is more unique, and the bridge is just well another bridge and there are probably thousands around the world. I still recon this one is pretty cool, and it does make our national heritage list. Completed in 1932, spanning 503 metres across Sydney Harbour and standing 134 metres above the water. There were 16 lives lost during the 8 years of construction. I have run over and under it. Riden a train across and even paid the toll to drive across it. There is a tunnel under the harbour as well nowadays, but it is so hard to imagine all that water above when you’re driving in it.

I like to get up early and run over it when we are staying hear by.

The 134 metres of elevation gain is a fair bit of incline but it gradual.

I even have photo of it from 30 years ago! It has not changed a bit. I seem to recall a story about Paul Hogn an old famous Australian comedian started his working life painting it. As soon as they got finished with one coat it was back to the start and time for another coat.

Impressive bridge. It would make for a nice run across. Just the view alone would be worth it.

That old photo and the textures. That's so good, nothing has changed a bit.
I really liked the 7th photo from the latter. You must have had a good run down that path.

The 'big coat hanger' line is the perfect grounding for the bridge, and noting it missed UNESCO while the Opera House made it is the kind of detail that sticks.
