New Sydney Fish Markets
We were staying in Ultimo close to the middle of Sydney, @consciouscat was doing a course so I was free to just cruise around and explore. A couple of people said I needed to check out the new fish markets. I was not so sure as I thought it would be a cold, wet, smelly place full of forklifts and people yelling at each other. It was quite loud and busy but not for the reasons I thought. They had separated all the whole sale trader to the lower level to which the general public had no access. The upper level was packed full of takeaway shops and was big, clean, airy and spacious.Β It was an interesting walk down to Black Wattle Bay. I pasted Wentworth Parks greyhound racing stadium and sporting fields. I actually did a run around there later too. I am always looking for places that are pretty flat and were I don't have to cross to many busy roads.
There were lots of people enjoying the great weather and some lunch. The light rail station nearby makes it easy to get to from anywhere in town. The building is brand new and only opened in January this year.Β Right next door to the old market site. $800 million to build, no wonder the fish are so expensive. The honeycombed wave shaped roof was grand and impressive.
There were so many tanks it could have been an aquarium.Β
I think I need to take up fishing just look at those prices.
Some many different shapes and sizes.

The abandoned shopping cart reminds me of some of the places around here. I love seafood, but fresh seafood can get expensive at times. You think maybe because of the risk to the fishermen? Some of those fishing waters are rather dangerous.
Maybe but I wonder if it is mostly done by big commercial operations now.
Probably, but surely doesn't make it any less dangerous. Especially crab fishing in the bering sea.
Ooooh, that looks like a great place to run. Fast and flat, baby! !INDEED
