Merimbula, New South Wales, Australia.

It is funny how things work out sometimes there are a lot of lessons to be learnt when travelling and booking things while you’re on the go. You really have to do your homework, generally for me the more research we do beforehand the better the experience. It is great to just wing things sometimes, but I think that is more suited when we have plenty of time. Merimbula was supposed to be a beach brake after a couple of days of faster travel visiting friends and driving from Geelong through Melbourne and along the coast road to New South Wales. Pretty much on our way home, after a few weeks away, house sitting and picking up some new parkrun events. We had watched some good accommodation disappear on booking .com right before our eyes at Warragul. Even though it was mid-week outside of holidays the best places get snapped up quickly. Then we got a bit caught by surprise at Merimbula. I thought we were staying really close to be beach. We often check airbnb, booking .com and also google maps, as well as trying to book direct if possible. On this occasion we found a great place on google maps which took us to their web site. Everything looked great until we got the address via email on the day of arrival. It was miles away from the beach. I thought we had been ripped off but, in our rush, google maps was showing us their office location then we booked some fancy place on their web site elsewhere accidently.

I wanted to complain that we had been miss led, but we were just booking things quickly from our phone, so instead of a nice beachside break we had this wonderful hilly top haven.

The beach was not too far away but I need to get the car out for a run and a swim.

We saw dolphins here at Short Point Beach Cove but there the light was low and my phone could not zoom in that far.
