Evans Head, New South Wales, Australia.

This was my first time ever to Evans Heads on the far north coast of New South Wales. It is only about two-and-a-half-hour drive south from Brisbane but seven and half hours north from Sydney. A pretty small place about 10 kilometre off the main highway. Previously we always seem to zip straight past at the start or end of our trips. Australia is such a big place and there are hundreds of these great coastal towns, it is really hard to find the time to check them all out. The population is about 3,000 but I bet that doubles in holiday times.

The Evans River.

I thought this was a pelican but getting closer it was a sea eagle.

The water was so clear and inviting if only we had enough time for a swim. Maybe not a swim after we found out this bit of the river is known as shark bay.

There were turtles in the river, unfortunately I did not get a good photo.

There were two camping and caravan places within walking distance to the shops and beach.

This place does not have a parkrun, that’s why we probably have never stayed before. Just look at all that undeveloped Australian Coastline! it is about 50kms to Ballina in the north and the same in the other direction to IIuka in the south

There were a few hikes to other headlands and beaches that would have been good to explore. A good excuse for another visit in the future!

I really like Evans Head. It's a long time since we have been there though. And you look so Aussie, with your tans set against turquoise beaches. How lucky we can be!

Indeed, and I am hoping all the great Ocean Road beaches are as good as I remember them.

I'm always surprised by how many photos you manage to take while I'm just wandering around, soaking up the view. !LUV
