Chermside parkrun, Queensland Australia.

We have been to Chermside parkrun twice the first time was way back in 2019 when we volunteered as pacers. It used to be my favorite volunteer role. I could hit the four minute and thirty second pacer per kilometre easy just like clock work. This was the first time I really struggled to hold that pace. I was not sure if I just had a busy week at work or it was just that I was slowly getting older and slower. Luckily for me Chermside is pretty flat and on a concrete path all the way except for the start/finish line.

I did a bit of a warm up and checked out the start of the course.

Lots of people take off really fast and then fade at the end the role of the pacer is just to hit and hold a consistent pace start to finish.

Caroline was doing twenty seven minute and half pacer.

It was a pretty busy parkrun and it was unusual that there was no one with me in the second half. I still try and stick to the pace just incase somebody wanted to finish really strong and could see me just ahead. I was checking my watch all the time and really struggling to keep the average pace right on that four and half minutes which would get me home in 22:30.

The second time we were there for there event 362. mainly because I need to get to work straight afterwards.

The start line spread right out then it is a sprint to get a good position on the narrow path.

I was two minute slower four year later. Not bad as I think I was taking it a little easier. They have a pretty good play ground too, but I needed to get to work.
